JJ Abrams and Gabe Newell in discussion for Valve themed movies (HL and Portal)

Recommended Posts

At a DICE Summit conversation this morning, Valve cofounder Gabe Newell and TV and movie director JJ Abrams announced plans to collaborate on future game and movie projects, including potential Portal and Half-Life movies.

Following a wide-ranging onstage talk reprising the kind of private discussions Newell says movie and TV people have all the time, he announced that it was "time to do more than talking."

Abrams jumped in to mention an "idea for a game that we'd like to work with Valve on."

The rest of the story is HERE.

Great idea, but they really need to FINISH the HL saga before they make it a movie... /grrrr...

Interesting find, and may or may not mean anything, but usually, when Gamestop/EBGames does a price drop on a product, it usually means that there's either been a new part of a series released, or one is very soon to be released. For example, all the prior Assassin's Creed games have been dropped to less than $12us, with the first 2 at $5.99 each.

That being said, they have dropped the price on the HL2 Orange Box (which comes with HL2, HL2 Ep1, HL2 Ep2, Portal, and Team Fortress) to $19.99US for the PC only, while the console packages remain at $34.99US.

If interested, either for yourself or as a gift, it can be found HERE.

It was certainly supposed to have a "looking for the Borealis/getting there" thing going on. We're not talking about a periphery loose story threads hanging thing here. It's pretty much "you're going to this aperture science ship now" in terms of progression.

Not that we'd know.

Although I wonder if they are having difficulty reconciling the darker world of half-life with the more comically dystopian world of portal.
