  1. I ahve a bunch of treasure maps that I managed to decode, but all they show is a red pin in the map and state treasure is at that location. How do I determine this location???
  2. Is there any way to tell what level a treasure map is? I found a few on earth elementals in shame and was thinking about trying them alone but I have no idea what level they are? I have a GM fisherman and was thinking about heading out and checking out the MIB scene again. To defend against the sea serpents, should I look for fire resist armor? Are sea serpents considered dragons as far as dragon slayer weapons are concerned? As I remember it, you fish, catch a sea serpent, kill it and loot a MIB if your lucky. Then you open the MIB and go get the treasure chest. Does it still work
  3. There should be room enough for the Tokuno Islands to have some 50-100 buried treasure spots around them. Why not put them there? Instead of the level 6 spots having the usual minor arties, they could have minor ToT arties as well as bringing back the Metal and Neon dyes to eat up all the excess minors floating around currently. This way the Treasures of Tokuno never really go away, but the major arties can actually be worth something. The guardians can also be tokuno-themed. Level 1- lizardmen, orcs, giant spiders, headless Level 2- kappas, black widows, few others Level 3- Lesser Hiry
  4. I'm a huge fan of treasure hunting, but I wish they would be more rewarding. I understand that adding anything really great to the current system would lead to massive farming. So heres my idea to make the system capable of supporting great rewards to those treasure hunters who would be willing to go the extra mile: 1. add an entire new set of treasure maps for Ilshenar, Tokuno, and Malas (with 100-300 locations per, depending on map size) 2. add a new skill at 120 cap, and call it Treasure Lore or something (professional title Treasure Hunter) 3. add Treasure Lore as a requirement to be
  5. Attended by: Raiden, Commander. (leading) Octiovus Von Richter, Baron & Liege. Hoagie, Captain. Torrak Keres, Mercenary Sergeant. Kal ShadowHand, Officer Cadet. Pickles, Officer Cadet. Marcus Kobra, Company Medic. Leander Le Blanc, Company Arcanist. Raven, Company Skirmisher. Delferium, Mercenary. Tsukiyomi Mori, Mercenary Recruit. Aslin, Mercenary Recruit. Ulfir, Mercenary Recruit. Our friends from Trinsic. The Twilight Legion. It was time to collect our paycheque from the Duchy. It was quite a substantial sum that we were owed for our contracts in Trinsic and so we would head to
  6. Yesterday I stepped into the Trog cave to find Lurg at the door. While unusual, I was able to take him down easier than normal as there were no other Trogs around. The loot contained a Trasure Chest, locked, from "lurg...". Is this unusual? Do these chests contain anything good? Thanks!
  7. What's an UO forum without template discussions? I love them! Well, here comes one! I would love to have a Treasure Hunter. I've been wandering around looking for sweet templates and so far the "standard" Treasure Hunter is something like this: Cartography Lockpicking Magery Evaluate Intelligence Meditation Music Peacemaking Apparently it's important to have peacemaking and invisibility to last the powerful monsters that will pop after a chest is found. So, as far as I understood, the tactic is to either 1) cast invisibility really quick and accurately or 2) use peacemaking (and succee
  8. The February 2009 Chesapeake Great Treasure Hunting Race was held Saturday evening, starting off in Britain. Hosted by EM Tailspin, EM Dudley and EM Faine Morgan, contestants and spectactors were soon anxiously milling about the Counselor's Hall in Britain. Dragons seemed to outnumber the people as they were "parked" all about the outside of the building, circling it in it's entirety. No small wonder that one of them didn't get a funny idea in it's reptilian head to share with it's kin that they could just as easily besiege the building and forget their masters! Fortunately, this did not hap
  9. hey everyone There's an exciting Treasure Hunting Race tomorrow, Saturday Feb 28th at 9pm EST. EM Tailsping and EM Dudley will be hosting this event so it should certainly be interesting! Complete details here: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=127784 While any and all are invited to this event, competitors will form teams of up to five players, one of which must be a GM Treasure Hunter(GM Cartography *and* GM Lockpicking). I'm sure folks from many towns and guilds will be forming teams as well as people getting together on the spot. Shall Gyldenfeld be represented as well?
  10. greetings everyone! I will be at the Red Wolf Cafe this Thursday evening at 8 PM EST outfitted for an evening of treasure hunting. I will have several Ingenious-level(level 6) treasure maps on hand. One of the popular items right now to obtain is Phillip's Wooden Steed, a minor artifact, which as a chance of being found from those maps and is used to construct the new Hitching Post. If one of the steeds is uncovered during the evening, a roll of the dice will determine who gets to keep it(highest roll wins)! In the case of a tie, the two or more people who tied will re-roll dice. Of cour

  13. Thanks to Mapper over on Stratics for this great report Posted on Monday, December 15, 2008, 9:18 AM EST by Mapper (Europa) What's better, the re-opening of the CD Vendor mall in Umbra or the fact they're hosting a huge event along with the opening?! If you were at the event on Sunday the 14th you'll know how good it was, However for those who didn't manage to make it, the event was a Christmas Treasure Hunt, with 8 clues leading to 8 locations and people needing to gather items along the way, it was a monster of
  14. Greetings, folks! For the past couple of days, I have been toying around with the idea of creating a Treasure Hunter. Its one of the classes that I really have never experimented with before now, and wouldn't mind trying. My questions is, is it fun? Is playing one rewarding? And without macroing or grinding, how long would it probably take a more or less casual player to reach GM? I am thinking along the lines of creating a Bard/TH. The other alternative would be to team up with one of my friends, and divide up the necessary skills amongst our characters. What are some good templates?
  15. Twas the early hours of the morning and Escaflowne stood staring out the windows of the Town Hall. The wind was still and the forests were sleeping....silence clenched the north. The chest that lies at the ruins in the forest between Vesper and Cove which had always been locked suddenly seemed to be opened. The book found inside was very interesting indeed and Escaflowne decided to research futher into the matt

  17. 18. It is - basically - a D20 necklace... =) Pretty chuffed with it!
  19. I have a bunch laying around, are they worth anything?
  20. Anyone have any ideas for making treasure in there houses? I want something cool in my keep =)
  21. I know before anyone sasy it... its a bad time to train in cartography! I'm stuck at 99.5 and the only way to Gm the skill is to complete the Lvl2 to 4 maps.. So, i'm wanting to buy about 400... anyone have or knowwho does? Kes
  22. Hi all. I am in the process of making a treasure map hunter & MIB hunter, for the fun of it. I currently am working on fishing with another character, but plan to transfer that via soulstone to a new character. Here is what my 'plan' is so far, as far as skills goes: GM Fishing GM Cartography (needed for map reading, right?) GM Lockpicking ?? Enough magic skill to use telekinesis, (maybe summon water ele's as I have read here?) GM Archery ?? Anatomy ?? Parry? Also, I am looking at an even distribution of STR, DEX & INT. How does this look to play out over the life of my treasu
  23. It occurs to me that the ingenious T-Maps are a gold mine of turn-in points if you can turn them in after they are completed! Anyone try this? ~M
  24. Treasure hunting has not been improved since they introduced Ilshenar paragons although every other aspect of the game has been. The result is treasure hunting no longer yields items that are worthy of note. They need to do the following to improve treasure hunting: 1) Either remove the useless Ilshenar Minor Artifacts or establish a turn in system for them. Out of all of the Ilshenar Minor Artifacts, around five have any real value (Canelabra of Souls, Dread Pirates Hat, Shield of Invulnerability, Violet's Courage, and Heart of Lion). 2) Update chests to remove scrolls and necromancy scro
