  1. Annabella's story was really one of the great stories for the guild. It really wound up generating a lot of detail for our overall fiction. First off, because of this story we began to examine Jhelomish nobility and came up with the following ideas. Being limited to the Valorian Isles, Jhelomish nobles don't really have new land they can expand to. As such, nobility is often granted to those who bring wealth to the islands. Thus the new breed of noble hopefuls often establish a fighting company, hiring out abroad and bringing back the plunder of their battles. It was our thought that th
  2. Note: This isn't my writing. I am reposting Troy's writing here for his and everyone else's benefit. In all facets of life exist both good and evil. Whether it be a child sneaking a few gold coins from his mother so he can purchase a gift for his sister's birthday, or a king ordering an assault on a town in order to drive out a dark sorcerer and his corrupt legions. The various ways in which the ebb and flow of this anomaly can often result in upheaval, and just as often result in closure. Yet, out of most of these occurrences comes a complex mix of the two, weaving an intricate tapestry
  3. For those who don't know, a palindrome is a phrase or sentence which is the same when spelled backwards as it is when spelled forwards, like the word racecar for example. This is a (mostly) coherent, palindrome story. this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. http://www.spinelessbooks.com/2002/palindrome/index.html -- 2002: demands lore—aside Roman-era eye, non-idyl. Guerilla muse, we call, rig. Yo! Brag us an ode- tale. O readers, meet Bob. (Elapse, year! Be glass! Arc!) Bob's a gem. O, hot Bob, now one decimal, debased ullage. Pen, if Bob—saga's sage motif—set a
  4. My apologies for not posting this earlier, but I came across this story while searching for some other files. As it mentions PaxLair and a few of the prominent folks specifically, I offer it for your archives and for your enjoyment. I believe it was written during the early days of the invasion, as no mention is made of the destruction that later was layed. Battle Lines Drawn It has been two days since reinforcements came. The Forces of PaxLair had halted the demon advance in the northern portion of Maginica while the Royal Britanian Guards, Dues Ex Machina, the United Sosarian Navy, an
  5. Source - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/16/scientology_xenu_confirmation/ Scientology spokesman confirms Xenu story A Scientology spokesman has confirmed that Scientologists believe that mankind's problems stem from brainwashed alien soul remnants created millions of years ago by genocidal alien overlord Xenu. The admission follows years of attempts to dismiss the story, first leaked by defectors, as anti-church propaganda. In an interview with KESQ News Channel 3, Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis was quizzed over the Xenu story, which leaked papers show is revealed to senior
  6. There is a book in the Consellors Hall giving dates and times for a series of role play events which are presumably EM led. First one is Monday [tomorrow] and then Tuesday with an experimental pvp tournament on Wednesday night at the new "pvp arena" - which again presumably relates to the new place in felucca south of Trinsic Public Moongate.
  7. Yeah, this gave me a good laugh the other day. I made a character with a somewhat offensive name. Sometimes you step over the line, and that line is sometimes hard to determine. lol Anyways I was AFK sitting at Luna bank, and had been for a couple days. I just leave my characters logged in now almost all the time. The second day I get home from being out of city to see Connection Lost. I'm thinking wth... So I log back in and notice that my name is now Hilton. lolol So me being in my drunk ways page the gms with something along the lines of this: "Hi, recently GM ???? changed my na

  9. So I thought I'd go down to the Despise fel champ spawn this morning while I ate b-fast and kill some of the low level spawn and see if I could maybe snag one of those new pink scrolls. I get down there and find that someone has done the spawn fairly recently...there are still some 105 & 110 PSes on the ground, as well as most of the gold. I've got my beetle with me and I'm low on money, so I grab the PSes, load myself & my beetle up with gold, and head back to luna. I know that I've left probably still 70-80k gold down there, so I turn around and head back. This time I load up my

  11. In the past, we had talked about setting this tale in the lands around Humility. What we forgot to consider, however, is the Meeran Crypts in Central Ilshenar. Why are those there? What if we were to relocate the conflict to central Ilshenar in the valley that now is home to Blackthorne's castle and the savage villages. The teleporter to the Meer Crypts could be the foundation of the old Meer Citadel which was destroyed. This teleporter could also be roleplayed as a hidden entrance to the caverns where some of the Meer survivors still live. I need to go back and reread the stories th
  12. I was thinking about this after reading the other post. It seems how people view things in roleplaying vary based on a lot of factors. So which comes first to roleplaying: the character or the story? I'm not sure where I stand on this. A few of my main characters (Athenat and Landicine) had pretty set personalities before I got involved in active roleplaying. They were able to take part in stories as sort of fixed points. Other character (Margrave, Cressida) sort of came out of a need to add certain elements to a story. Cressida, for example, gained certain personality quirks based on early
  13. So with the latest event publish on the horizon and UO's Warriors of Destiny tale progressing, I thought it time we do a little work on our own interpretation of the Warriors of Destiny Saga. To begin with, I'll summarize and brainstorm about the story that unfolded in Ultima 5. Britannia was flourishing under Lord British's rule, with new roads being built and the wild lands being tamed. Together with the great council, he sealed the dungeons and raised the Codex. The later event had major ramifications for the underworld (and the gargoyle lands, we would come to discover in Ultima 6).
  14. ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In additio
  15. It has gone too far I think :-/ Like , maybe there aren't many people who like Medieval ages + fantasy. But I am one. Why couldn't they do something like, that only one of the Shards got like into new era or add new one. In short words, something like storyline ... When the gem was shattered there was one piece left the one which only now came alive. and there was a new World, new beginning where we all could start in small villages , there was no big cities, because it was a new start. So we could make all the cities by ourselves. Like Castles and walls , kings and queens, rich and poor,
  16. I thought I would start this thread because there isn;t that much info on Spellweaving, well from a pratical use point of view, also as a new commer to it I thought it could be usefull to have a point of view as I progress. I'll post here as I continue down the road and let everyone know my thoughts. Background, I'm a 5 x GM Mage and recently decided to add in Arcane to my template loosing my Bard skills to another char, so you can work on the assumption that all the other relevant Mage skills are in place and maxed, this is simply an addition to them.
  17. Do all Two Story Statues speak? Any idea what their aproximate values would be?
  18. Muldran was sleeping. Well, not exactly. His sleep was disturbed, images flashing forward in front of his eyes. His brow wrinkled slightly - how could images pass in front of one's eyes, when they were closed? Then his brain reminded him he was sleeping, and that not everything made sense. She stood in front of him, and showed him the scales. "Balance is illusion..." The two gold bricks lay there in the scales, the larger brick obviously weighing down the lighter.... then she moved the arms of the scales, widening them and the heavier and lighter bricks balanced. "How do you know the
  19. 'Twas the night before Christmas--Old Santa was pissed. He cussed out the elves and threw down his list. Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks. I have a good mind to scrap the whole works! I've busted my ass for damn near a year, Instead of "Thanks Santa"--what do I hear? The old lady bitches cause I work late at night. The elves want more money--The reindeer all fight. Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids. Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS. And just when I thought that things would get better Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter, They say I owe taxes--if that ain't
  20. source Just curious if we will have a continuing story over why and how the city of Magincia is being invaded. It was a nice addition with the Ophidian invasion and makes the battles seem more immersive. I was hoping to see something on it, unless I've missed it somewhere of course, instead of a flip of a switch kinda thing. Draconi is too good a story teller to have missed the boat on this *grins* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I find this likely. In the single player games upon which UO is based, Magincia was destroyed by demons as punishment for its Pride (in between Ultima 3: Exodus and
  21. Muldran hurried through the snow, pausing the glance at the ruined hut. Remembering to not forget to remember to tell Hawksmoor about not messing around with explosives, Mul marched towards the Library. Throwing off his robe, he shouted for Tim - but there was no response. Muldran cursed softly to himself; a fine example he'd set to the lad by not being around for the last few days. But things were going so well - he'd already received several commissions, and he had to deliver the items to their new location by Tuesday - he just hoped the rest of the Court wouldn't find out, he'd never h
  22. Here is a story about Ultima Online that I found rather interesting. http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/06.01.00/cover/onlinegames1-0022.html
  23. Still standing at the window of the Library, Muldran smiled again. It was odd, he mused. He was terrified about what he'd done, but it couldn't be part-time, couldn't be pretend. And with the reactions of the Court to what he'd done in agreeing to adopt Tim Hunter, he had to show he was serious. In front of the fountain, the Court were stunned at Tim's appearance - as well as Muldran's decision to adopt Tim. But that wasn't all they were surprised at. Muldran knew he had to take a further step. He stood forward, Tim at his side, and told the Court that he hadn't planned this.
  24. A quiet night at the Keg and Anchor wasn't on the cards for the Shadow Court. First, Mul turned up and was immediately pounced on by gypsy-wanderer Summer and the ever-present Alraune and asked what particular talents he had to contribute. Not wanting to cause any more magical disasters, Muldran treated them to a rendition of 'Stones', played on two spoons. As he finished, he turned to the sound of a familiar voice... Tim Hunter! Muldran was gobsmacked, and overjoyed to see the young man again - but there was something vaguely unsettling about him; Tim looked pale and drawn, hardly as if
