Re: Chancellor Candidates
![]() My beloved fellow Vesperians. Many of you know me, but after my years absense I see it fit that I introduced myself to those that don't. I am Lord Deacon van Cocidius III, former Baron of Vesper, former Chancellor of the Republican Council, former Governor of Swaggerland, and former Mayor of Trinsic. If you can't tell, I've collected a generous amount of titles over my time, and thus I already have proven I've had the experience to take the helm of Vesper for once more. Before my year absense, I had live and worked in Vesper for many years working at the Swaggers Inn, owned and ran by Rebecca. Although born and raised outside of Vesper, I consider this City to be my home, and all of you as my family. The first thing I would do once made Chancellor is to fill those empty seats on the council as soon as possible. The key to a strong nation, is indeed a strong backbone of leaders. Once the council is filled, we will be able to be strong once again, and with an active Chancellor at the top, you can be promised that Vesper will once again be raised to the great force it once was. It's also been well publicised that the former Chancellor, Olk Samsca, acted out of line and did things he should not of done which inevitably lead him to his death. As Chancellor, I will promise you nothing will happen without the backing of the council. If the Chancellor acts against the council, I will instate a law that allows him, or her, to be removed from the position, so long as the majority of the council agree. This will promise nothing will happen again like what happened in Samsca's two reigns, and the Civil War of last year. I also think it's important for those not of the council to know what is going on. So I will make it clear that a statement from the Chancellor himself will be made public to the people of Vesper after every meeting held. There will also be a period afterward where the people can come to the Chancellor and question any worries that pop up during the meeting and have their worries silenced. There will also be a period prior to the meetings when the people of Vesper can put forth questions or ideas for the council to discuss. A noticeboard will be made available for these to be placed on. Council aside, I shall talk of the militia. As I see it, our force is small and watered down from the vast numbers we were producing mere months ago. I see no problems in how the militia is run, as there is plenty for them to do and lots of events going on daily. What I would hope to implement is a reward system unique to Vesper, rewarding those with dedication and passion for Vesper and give them special privaleges and such. Another reason I feel has caused the decline, is a lack of socialable activities outside of the day to day life of a soldier. The Swaggers Inn is struggling to get staff to show up because thiers a lack of customers. If there's something I do well, it's mass events that bring the people together and have a great time, socialising and competing in numerous events. Just look at the Sosarian Olympics that I brought back to Britannia in my first reign of Vesper, my festivals, my expeditions into Ilshenar, and my Trinsic Moot. If there's something I do well, that is it. Once the council is reformed, I promise you all that events like this will be as often as needed. Something that bothers me greatly about these election campaigns, is that there is always something missed. And that's those that are not a part of the Vesperian force. Normal civilians, tailors, smiths, carpenters, traders, privateers.. these people are always overlooked in Vesper, and it's time that stopped. Not only will these people be able to enjoy the fun and games I hope to plan, but I want them to be rewarded for their work. Of course, these people are always called upon when armour, or weapons are needed to be crafted, but otherwise they just fade back into the shadows. I will make it possible for the people of Vesper will be garunteed a fair sale of their resources to the Republic. These resources will be used internally, or used for external trade of exotic goods, via the Trading Company. Not only will our laboral workers have something to work towards during these hard times, but the external trade of these goods will help boost Vesper economy which has taken a beating of recent times. Off the back of this, the army will be kept well suited with armour, weapons, repairs.. whatever it is they require, the resources mentioned above can be used towards this. Once our army is better equipped and more organised, we can move onto larger things. Larger things being the situation surrounding West Vesper, also known as Minoc. As we are, retaking Minoc would be suicide, we have the whole of the Royalists watching for us to make the first move so they can strike us down, and in our current form, that wont take much. Once, or if, we retake West Vesper, I plan for the inhabitants to govern themselves, but are overseen by the Chancellor of Vesper. As it is, Vesper has a lot of enemies and too little friends. My first move will be to make friendly advancements (not an alliance) with the people of Trinsic and make them our closest allies when it comes to the trade of our goods. I would also like to attempt a hand of friendship to the Covians, or at the very least a ceasefire to allow Covians come to the Swaggers, and vice versa concerning the Goblin. With concerns to the Queen and the rest of them, she has shown us no form of understanding or friendship, and thus we shall give her none back. If she was to dare enter Vesperian lands without a good reason, she shall be brought to her death. I truely hope you take what I have said to heart, these are not just words I have written down, but they are promises that I will bring to reality if you vote for me on election day. Vesper is in my heart, it is my home. We are the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Thank you.
