![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Liberation of West Vesper West Vesper......Once known as Minoc many years ago before it was stripped from the shackles of the Kingdom. Given a new name, a new start....a new freedom by the Grand Republic of Vesper. For 6 years West Vesper prospered under the wing of the Republic until a year ago when the barbaric warmongers that are the Yewlanders invaded and imprisoned it once more. Now as tensions rise with the Tyrants that are the Knights Templar and Duchy of Trinsic that currently imprison our brethen from the west, the time has come once more for them to suffer the might of Vesper. Olk Samsca the Chancellor of Vesper has issued a call to arms, and it is the duty of all Republicans to answer it! http://www.uoforums.com/vesper-ic-bo...st-vesper.html

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: The Liberation of West Vesper The second day of the liberation commences with the Crown reinforcing the Royal alliance with forces from Yew, Cove and Britain. The Republicans prepare to push through the second line of defense. ![]() The Vesparian forces intercept the Covian and Yewish armies at the moongate, swiftly cutting them down before regrouping to assault the next line of defense. The Republicans now stood against the full force of the Crown. The massive force of the Combine (Baronship of Cove & Guardsmen Militia of Yew) and the Royal Union (The Knights Templar, Duchy of Trinsic, Community of Skara Brae & Captain Avery and his force from Britain) awaited the them. Hugely outnumbered the brave Vesper Alliance charged full speed twice into the Tyrants of the Crown. Two great battles ensued but Victory against such a vast army was impossible. The Vesper Alliance pulled their forces back to prepare for the third day of the Liberation. ![]()

![]() | Re: The Liberation of West Vesper My fellow Vesperians, and all Vesperian Friends, this is Olk Samsca, your Chancellor, and I wish to speak with you once again. Despite our best efforts, our lengthy sufferance, the endless compromises we have made, and were yet willing to make before the Loyalist hydra, we find ourselves once again at war. It is not a war that Vesper desired; we merely wished to see that the promises made to us were kept, but once again we find that the Loyalist devotion to the virtue of honesty goes only skin deep. Once again we find that that the Loyalists would rather keep men and women as slaves, no matter the cost in blood and treasure, rather than let them be free. This is what, in their folly, they imagine is what the virtue of sacrifice is about. The Knights Templar, in spite of all their protestations of honour, have called upon their masters: The abominable Yewish. Unsurprisingly the Yewish brought their other pet to aid them in the fray, I speak of course of the Baronship of Cove. There have been whisperings, insinuations, indeed out and out open statements, that the numbers arrayed against us are too great. That the numbers we have in our power are too few. In short some say that Vesper, alone against a united Loyalist world, cannot win. I say this is nonsense. Vesper can win. Vesper will prevail. Were we not outnumbered by a far greater host at the first battle of Minoc? Did not hearts then not quiver at the heavy sound of the Loyalist host upon the march? Yet despite the odds Vesper and good Vesperian friends prevailed and for a time West Vesper knew freedom. For a time the people of that ill-fated village were sovereign. Need I mention the great battle of Covenshire, when the combined armies of the South, those who had come to destroy our realm, were at last bested upon an open field before a handful of brave Vesperians? Was it not the case that soon afterwards that foe was broken utterly? What of the war, not quite so distant, when we liberated not only our own city, but West Vesper as well, from the Yewish foe? Would anyone amongst you tell me face to face that the ancient valour in Vesperian hearts is dead? Would you say that the accomplishments of these ancients are now beyond our grasp? I do not believe it for a moment. Given I was there I think my word in this matter should carry some weight. We have experienced a blow to be sure, and it was ill suffered for our part, although I feel we recovered some of our dignity by the end of the night. We are not however by any means beaten. Our hosts remain intact. We are a sovereign people still. While we remain true to our past and remain proud of our traditions we cannot be defeated. Our officers have been working around the clock to prepare for what may be the climactic battle of the campaign. If everyone completes their assigned tasks, if all of us remember our training, then victory shall be ours. Some of you have questioned our choice of allies in this war. I share your misgivings. It makes me sick to my stomach that we are reduced to such a state. I wish that our hosts were the greater, that our true friends were the more numerous or that we found our foes the less. But I ask you, is not unifying our realm worth the brief and passing nausea? Does Vesper not deserve security? Does Vesper not deserve to be free of loyalist terror? Do not Vesperians, all Vesperians, deserve to be free? I believe there is only one answer to this question: Yes. Thrice yes in fact. I believe this present price, that deep disquiet, is worth paying to see our realm whole again. If I have not convinced you, if you feel the nausea is too great, then I ask you to put it aside. For now we have a war to win. Once this conflict is over, once we have ending the sundering and have peace, you may condemn me at the ballot box. Such is your right as a free citizen. I hope I have allayed any misgivings you might be feeling now. Courage may not come naturally to all, but I believe all can, for a time at least, possess it. What will say to your friends and children when asked about the liberation of West Vesper? Shall you show them scars valiantly earned upon the field or shall you instead demure, concealing the fact you hid in terror at the number of Loyalists? Those who fall shall do so as heroes. Who of us will live forever? Is it not better to fall in defence of your kin than to suffer a wasting death after the grim experience of old age? I therefore expect everyone who can bear arms to find themselves a place amongst our ranks. I know they shall be warmly received. Tonight we shall advance once again upon the forces which hold West Vesper in chains. In our train shall be the ghosts of all those who have fallen in seeking to ensure the liberty of our people. In our train shall be the hopes of all those who would not wear the Loyalist yoke. In our train too shall the hopes those who, while hating that yoke, find the weight too great to remove. Tonight we shall meet our foe once more. Tonight we shall take his measure. Tonight we shall find he is the lesser! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: The Liberation of West Vesper Twas the third and unfortunate final day of the West Vesper Liberation. The Republicans had been pushed back and the Royal Union prepared to attempt to drive them out. ![]() The Vesparian forces and their allies set up defences around the huts at the entrance to West Vesper where the Royalists assaulted the position with all their might; but it wasn't enough. After a bloody battle the Republicans successfully drove the Royalists deeper into West Vesper. The Vesper Alliance regrouped and prepared to descend upon the Royal Unions line of defence. Laying heavy siege to the barricades the superior firepower of the Republic gave the Royalists no choice but to charge out and meet them in battle. A long epic skirmish ensued all over the surrounding area but the waves of Royalist troops just seemed endless. The Vesparians pulled back to their former position and reinforced their barricades preparing to make a last stand. The Vast army of the Crown came swarming over the Vesper Alliance but still they bravely stood their ground and gave 'em hell! The battle was too close to call throughout but sadly eventually the Republicans sustained heavy casualties and had to retreat. No doubt about it they went down swinging.... ![]() Theres only so long the world can stand united to prevent the freedom of West Vesper. Time will take its toll upon the relations of the royalist nations; slowly corroding and eventually breaking them. West Vesper remains imprisoned by the Crown.....for now....
