Thread: Best PvM template for dexxer.

Im looking for opinions on the best. Setup for a dexxer mainly to be used for pvm, although id like to dabble in pvp as well, is there a huge difference?

Please keep in mind I am a new player and only have a 700 stat limit.

I was thinking anatomy, healing, parry, chivalry, bushido, fencing tactics but I don't know which should be legendary and why.

There are different ways to build a good dexxer. What you've proposed is a classic samurai, not a bad choice. If you go that route, I'd try to take Fencing and Bushido to 120. To achieve that you may drop healing and tactics to 90 and anatomy to 80. Or use skill jewelry.

I personally think you don't really need bushido, so you could go with a classic paladin. Pretty much the same skills, just without bushido and take everything to 120 except tactics or anatomy.

There are more complex builds like the mystic-warrior or the sampire (that very likely will be advised by posters to come), but these are a bit harder to play and I wouldn't advise them for a new player.

For PvP, a pure fencer doesn't really kick it. Melee chars in general are at disadvantage in PvP. But with poisoning added, fencing can be a viable option. Other pvp melee builds would be some sort of swordsman with a bokuto for nerve strike or maybe a ninja with a mace weapon.

I have already done some research on the sampire and I agree, way too advanced.

I am hoping you can elaborate on some specifics for me.

First, is there a notable advantage between the skills of fencing, swords and mace?

Second, I don't even know what the skills bushido, chivalry and parrying even DO. Can you explain?

Last, is the classic paladin a viable pvm template? I know it isn't as good as the samp due to vampric embrace but I still want to be able to handle top tier monsters.

Also, does it matter if the toon is human elf or gargoyle?

Each has their benefits and downfalls. For a dexxer, an elf is probably the best bet (unless you want to do throwing, in which case you need a gargoyle). Elf makes suit-building easier due to the +20 mana bonus you get for being an elf. Humans have Jack of All Trades that gives you an effective minimum skill of 20 in every skill, but IMO the utility of JOAT is limited compared to an elf's mana boost. All races have other bonuses, but the ones mentioned are the most relevant to dexxers.

this "best" dexxer template you want could very well suck for you, if you dont know how, or cant, play it.
Thing is.....IMO of course.....get a template your comfy with, happy with, feel confident in and go for it!!

Back to my opinion.....(in my best talia shire to sylvester stallone voice(rocky2))......you CANT win ! (uo)........its about entertainment...enjoyment!!

So....go roll your own template ....and sit back and enjoy the ride!!!

Some say fencing hits faster....but thats simply not true. Speed is based on your stamina and the wep speed and any SSI.

Some say mace does extra stam drain, making your target harder to keep up with you if you need to run, or slows its attack speed. I say hogwash, all damaging weps drain stamina, but I prefer mace, cause it sounds wicked when I swing, and I just love the look of the hammer!

Some say swords, for the axes, but if your not using a two hander AND have the lumberjack skill, its about the same as all the rest of em.

Besides, you can put UBWS on any wep, and use a sword with your fencing skill, so......

2. Chivalry.....heals, cures, resses, recalls, lets you make an enemy of one meaning you do extra damage to THAT type mob and an area of effect spell that flat out HAMMERS undead type mobs!

Bushido.....honoring an opponent before ever damaging it allows for the occasional critical hit, and man does it do a lotta damage!! Mini heal spell you can cast on the run, an spell to auto hit if you parry an attempt, a spell to hit two enemies at once, a spell that simply makes the next few attemps to hit you barely succeed, if at all, and lightning strike, which is a spell that allows for the next hit attempt to be at 50% chance, the highest in the game(I spam this one).

Parry....the chance to block the next hit attempt on you. With 120 parry and 120 Bushido, its 40% chance while holding a two handed weapon, 35% chance with a one handed weapon, and you dont even wanna know about holding a shield, simply NO!
You can use Parry skill without Bushido, and then use a shield, which I think max chance is (someone correct me if Im wrong) 33%?

3. Classic Pally is now "more" viable since the latest round of changes (nerfs IMO), what with bandying, and the casting speed of Chiv spells, and the leeching abilities you can get imbued on a wep, it is sweet! Yeah, Vamp form leeches life with every hit, and a Pally will occasionally have to back off and heal up, but thats how it is with a Pally, and one just adapts and rocks on!!

Honestly, just go with what feels good, learn to play it, and it will be all good!
I mean, I have a bard and a useless thief....two of the most longest hammered templates out there.

Classic is a skill set.
Point allocation is strictly up to you, but cannot get by on 60 chiv anymore.
Id probably call Chiv min skill point at 80 myself, but if I had any extra, it would def go into chiv!!
