Thread: Post your Classic and Enhanced Client Macros!

Hi all. One thing the skill guides are missing is how to make macros, and WHAT macros are useful for a given purpose. There is so much that we can do with macros, yet I am completely clueless about how to do more than bow or say "BuGAWWWK!". I have been tinkering with both clients, and I think it would be very helpful to not only myself, but other veterans & n00bs who have not really made good use of this feature.

There is already a UOSA Macro posted for Self Healing, which I will be absolutely using.

Please post yours! Once there is a good number for each client, I will copy them into one post for each and post that in a cleaned up, concise form that Adam & Co. can put in the Skill* Guides sections.

Some macros which are in general usefull:
OpenDoor (just run to a door with the key pressed and it jumps open)

AllNames (shows all the names of players/npcs/monsters/animals at your screen)

CircleTrans (will switch Circle of Transperancy on/off)


Resource collector (lumberjacking + mining)
LastObject+ WaitForTarget+ LastTarget (-> will use your last used shovel/ axe on the last targeted mountain/tree)

Warrior:
BandageSelf (of course )
InvokeVirtue-> Honor (and then click on the monster you want to honor; honor is such a nice add-on)
CastSpell-> ConsecrateWeapon, EoO, LS, Confidence, MS
SelectNearest-> Hostile + AttackSelectedTarget

Mage:

CastSpell-> PoisonField+ TargetSelf


Anyone using the options "UpdateRangeInfo" or any other of the ...Range... ones? For what is that intended?

Tinkering with the enhanced client:

Help, I've run out of hotbar space!
-right click on the hotbar and select new hotbar - 12 more spots, though not using the Function keys. Right clicking on a spot will allow you to assign a hotkey.

Monitoring Stats with the hotbar
-The hotbar can be used 'passively'. For example, open up your character sheet, find the 'weight' entry - a yellow square with a weight standard in it. Drag that square onto an open hotbar space. It will show your current weight on top, along with your maximum carrying weight underneath. You can do this for most, if not all stats. I wouldn't bother with hitpoint, mana, or stamina, as these are in your 'healthbar' anyway, and you can modify it so that you can see both the number ratios and the bar form. But for other quickly shifting variables, this is a handy feature. If you really wanted to, you could put Luck, Mana Regen or other stats in there, though they don't change much. If you are checking a suit combo, it would probably be better to just leave the character sheet open so you could see many items at once.

Enhanced:

I keep one hotbar up with all of my runebooks, for easy one-click access to them. (From the backpack, you have to double-click to open them, but from a hotbar, you can single-click them). Same with spellbooks.

I keep another hotbar up with my weight and how much gold I'm carrying.

For healing, I have one hotbar of heal/cure and invisibility spells set to target Self, and a separate hotbar with the same spells set to target cursor. This way, I can easily cast those spells on others. (The party bar has heal and cure gems for party members, but they only work with magery spells and not with Chiv or other equivalent spells... unless they fixed that little inconsistency, in which I would celebrate!)

For peacemaking, I have one peace skill hotbar box set to target self for area peace, and another set to target cursor for choosing a target during fight time.

I have my scroll wheel set to target next and last enemies (configurable in the settings panels). That way, targeting my next monster is just a matter of scrolling through the nearby baddies.

Anyone using the options "UpdateRangeInfo" or any other of the ...Range... ones? For what is that intended?

I have a problem using the gathering marco when using a pack horse.

Macro is last object, wait for target, last target.

This works fine until I drop ore into a pack horse, then its broken. Even if I manually repeat the process after droppping ore into the pack horse, the marco dont work anymore...

The new client marco system seems ok, but Im beggining to wonder if Im better off going back to classic with uoa. I never had probelms setting up workable macros there.

For spells, when I've ran out of F1 to F12, I then use alt+1-9. So for example, I have flamestrike macro'd to alt+1, harm to alt+2, etc etc.

For training a magical skill (like I have been training mysticism recently) I use:

Spell (ie: mass sleep, hail storm, etc)
Wait for Target
Target Self (mass sleep and hail storm don't hurt me)
Delay 1sec (change depending on your recovery speed)
Repeat x10

Hitting it once every ten spells is much better than having to do it every time. =P

I have over 50 macros just for my mage. Good thing I have a Logitech G11 =]

For a mage you want to macro anything you need to cast right away, such as Greater Heal, Cure and your main damage spells. Stuff such as fiends and summons can be left as icons on your desktop.

Basic info:

Options Screen

Each of the configuration screens has the following buttons:

Cancel - Cancels all changes made on the screen since it was opened or saved.
Apply - Saves all changes for the duration of the current play sessions.
Default - Erases all previous changes, returning the screen to its pre-set default values.
Okay - Permanently saves all changes made on the screen since it was last opened or saved.

Sound And Music
These options allow you to configure the sounds in the game.

Sound On/Off - Toggle sound on or off. A Volume bar beneath it can be set by sliding.
Music On/Off - Toggle music on or off. A Volume bar beneath it can be set by sliding.
Play Footstep Sounds - Toggle on or off the sound of your own footsteps when you move.
Reverse Speakers - Reverses the sounds coming from your left and right speakers.

Pop-Up Help
These options allow you to configure the game's pop-up help feature.

Use Tool-tips - Toggle the help feature on or off.
Font for Tool-tips - Choose the font you want for help text by clicking on your choice.
Color of Tool-tip text - Change the color of your help text by clicking on the colored box.
Delay before Tool-tip appears - Control how quickly a help box will pop up under your mouse cursor.

Chat
For each entry, clicking on the colored box allows you to set the color and brightness of that type of entry. You will need to close and reopen the Chat Window for these changes to take effect.
Macro Options
Macros are an important feature of the game that allow you to fully customize your interface. Macros let you string together complex command combinations to fit any circumstance that you think may arise. You can have as many Macros as you like (at least until you run out of keyboard commands), and a Macro can contain as many actions as you wish (of course, the more actions a Macro has, the less likely it is to be useful on a regular basis during play). You can scroll through your current list of Macros using the previous and next buttons on the Macro screen.
To enter a new Macro:
Click on the add button for an empty command field. Enter the key you want to use to trigger the new Macro (numbers, letters and punctuation may be used). You may also toggle the Shift, Alt or Ctrl keys on or off. For example, if you want to enter four Macros for use in battle, they can be triggered by B, Shift-B, Alt-B and Ctrl-B. (Note that Macro commands using only letters, or Shift + letters, may be unintentionally triggered during normal text exchanges).
Once you've selected the trigger, enter the commands that will make up the Macro itself in the field below the command field. Click on the field to see a list of available options. Each time you set an option, a new command field will open up for any further commands you wish to apply to your Macro. When your Macro is done, just stop adding commands and click Okay or Apply to save it.
You can delete an existing Macro by clicking the delete button, then clicking Okay or Apply.
The following commands are available in the Macro window:

Say - Open a text window where you can enter a line of dialog that your character will speak when the Macro is used.
Emote - As Say, but may be a different text color than normal speech (see "Change Emote Color" above). Also, any Emote text will be placed between two asterisks, for example *grin* or *Broods darkly*. The traditional function of emote text is to convey actions, attitudes, or emotions rather than simple speech.
Whisper - As Say, but whispered text (e.g., "Psst, wanna buy a chicken?") can only be "heard" by characters immediately adjacent to you.
Yell - As Say, but yelled text (e.g., "HELP!") can be "heard" by any character up to a screen and a half away.
Walk - Opens a menu of compass directions from which you choose one. Using this menu causes your character to face and take a step in the selected direction.
War/Peace - Toggles you between War mode and Peace mode.
Paste - Pastes text from your Windows clipboard into a book or speech. Text length is limited. Speech can be only a few words, while books can receive a few sentences.
Open - Opens one of your informational windows. Selecting this option will present you with a list of windows from which to select. Your Character Window is listed as "Paperdoll" and your Options screen as "Configuration".
Close - Closes the window you specify.
Minimize - Minimizes all open windows.
Maximize - Fully opens all minimized windows on screen.
Open Door - Opens any door within reach.
Use Skill - Presents you with a list of all applicable skills, from which to select the specific skill you want to try to Use when you trigger this Macro. This command can only be used to initiate those skills which are normally begun from the skill list in your Character Window. It does not apply to skills initiated by using a specific item or taking a certain action.
Last Skill - Attempts to again Use the last skill you Used.
Cast Spell - Presents you with a list of all the spells in the game, from which you must select the specific spell you want to cast. It's up to you to ensure the spell you select is, in fact, one that you actually know how to cast.
Last Spell - Attempts to recast the last spell you cast.
Last Object - Attempt to again use the last item you Used.
Bow - Your character will bow from the waist.
Salute - Your character will perform a military salute.
Quit Game - Disconnects you and closes the game.
Allnames - Displays the names of every creature and character currently on screen.
LastTarget - Automatically target the last object, creature, or player that you clicked on with the targeting cursor.
TargetSelf - Targets you. Used in conjunction with other macros.
Arm/Disarm - Arms or Disarms your current or chosen weapon. You must specify an arm (right or left).
Wait for Target - Waits for the target cursor to become available.
Target Next - Moves your target cursor to the next available target.
Attack Last - Attacks the creature or player your last targeted.
Delay - Allows you to set a "wait" delay with a complex macro.
CircleTrans - Allows you to toggle Circle Transparency with a macro.
CloseGumps - Closes all open pop-up messages.
AlwaysRun - Toggles the Always Run setting, which makes you always run whenever you move.

The Number Pad keys - This is a series of commands useful in navigating ships.

Interface
These options affect your interface controls.

Run mouse in a separate thread - Toggle to affect the way your mouse tracks on screen.
Enable pathfinding with double-right-click - Allows you to turn pathfinding on or off.
Combat Tab Key - Toggle between holding down the Tab key to remain in War Mode or tapping the Tab key to toggle yourself in and out of War Mode.
Offset interface windows - Choose whether new interface windows will open directly over older ones, or be offset elsewhere on the screen.
Automatically arrange minimized windows - Turn automatic arrangement of minimized windows on or off.
Always run - Your character will always run if this is checked.
Use default desktop - This will enable or disable the new player default desktop.
Hold Shift for Context Menus - By default, left clicking any object or NPC will cause its context menu to appear. Check this to only have context menus appear if the Shift key is held down while left-clicking the object or NPC.
Disable the Menu Bar - This removes the Menu bar at the top of the play window.
Scale interface fade in time - Allows you to set how fast or slow the interface fades. 3D client only.
Old fashioned container gumps - This uses the old-fashioned container gumps from the 2D client. 3D client only.

Display
These options affect the visual presentation of the game.

Enable page flipping - Toggle that may be necessary with certain video cards. It affects the way the game buffers art as it appears on the screen. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Use GDI in full screen display (toggle) - Select this option if your video card has problems with DirectX drivers. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Use full screen display - Toggle to switch from a window to a full-screen display.
Full screen resolution - This includes three options that allow you to set the resolution of your game window (including the black area surrounding the game play window):

• 320 x 240
• 640 x 480
• 800 x 600

Game Play Window Size - Sets the maximum client size while windowed:

• 640 x 480
• 800 x 600

Switch to 565 color mode - This check box can put the game into 565 color mode. This option may be necessary on systems running certain video cards under Windows NT. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Adjust how long speech remains on-screen - A slider that allows you to set how long speech remains displayed on your screen.
Scale speech - A toggle that (when on) leaves longer speech on the screen for a longer time than shorter speech.
Enable frame skipping - Option that may improve game response time on some slow systems, at the cost of some visual realism. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Speech color - Set the color in which your words will appear when you speak.
Emote color - Allows you to display pre-set text in a second color. You can switch from your speech color to your emote color using a Macro or the colon key text flag.
Party message color - Allows you to set the color of party messages.
Dark nights - When this is checked, night time in Britannia will appear darker than daytime.
Colored lighting - Enabling this allows you to see the colored light given off by objects such as moongates and communication crystals.
Shadows - Enabling this allows you to see the shadows given off by objects. This option is only available in the 3D client.
Particle density - You can adjust the density of particle effects with this slide bar. 3D Client Only.

Reputation
These options have to do with the Reputation system color coding which helps you defend yourself against anti-social behavior.

These options allow you to adjust the color of highlighting used to distinguish characters.

• Innocent
• Friendly guild
• Someone that can be attacked
• Criminal
• Enemy Guildmember
• Murderer

Query before performing criminal actions - Toggle to turn on or off a warning window that will pop up any time you try to target something that would lower your Karma to attack. With Query on, you will have to confirm that any such attack is intentional.

Miscellaneous

Show the intro movie on launch - Shows the intro movie at the start of the game when toggle is On.
Order disk cache - Game automatically arranges your disk cache for maximum efficiency when toggle is On. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Save text log file - Save all journal text to a text file on your system.
Save log file in unicode format - Store your Login Unicode text. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Show names of approaching players - This will automatically show names of approaching players.
Use circle of transparency - Makes solid objects in the foreground appear translucent.
Set radius of transparency circle - Slider that allows you to control the size of your area of transparency.
Inform me of skill raises - When toggled on, this option will send you system messages when you increase in skill. Below it is a slider that you may use to set, in tenths, at what increments you want to receive these messages.
Inform me of stat raises - When toggled on, this option will send you system messages when you increase in strength, dexterity, or intelligence.
Speech font - Choose the font you want for speech. Click on your choice. This option is not available in the 3D client.
Cache this many houses on client - Sets the number of houses that will be saved on your hard drive. This can increase client performance at the cost of disk space.
Enable error logging - This logs error messages. This option is only available in the 3D client.

Filter Options
These parental control options allow you to screen out objectionable speech by other players.

Filter Obscenity - Cause the game to render most common vulgar words as random strings of punctuation, i.e., comic-strip style "swearing". Click again to toggle the filter off.
Ignore Players - When a character's name is added to this list, that character's speech will no longer be visible to you.
Click to Edit Profanity List - Gives you access to the list of filtered expressions, from which you may add or remove words or phrases.
Password Protect - Primary user of the game can set a password to lock other users out of this screen. For example, it allows you to keep a child from turning off the obscenity filter or viewing the profanity list.
Change Password - Pick a new password to this screen.

Anyone find a way to get a UOA macro for scroll making to allow active meditation? I have one that tries to make 4 scrolls and then waits for mana to build back up to 100. Problem is, it starts the active meditation and immediately stops it before waiting for the mana to rebuild to 100.

The spoilers aren't working for me Pitr. Only the last two work.
