A strange occurrence (bug?)
I was doing the lizardman/snakes/drakes spawn at the Humility champ spawn in Ilshenar today to test out necro on my tamer, and I was killed by either an ophidian or a drake (definitely one of the two, possibly a paragron). I rezzed and ran back to the champ spawn and was killed *super* fast, so I had a 'wtf' moment, checked UOAssist, and realized that, somehow, I had been sent into skill loss.
Now yes, the character in question is in Factions and has a couple of pieces of faction gear on. But it is important to note that I was not in Fel when I went into skill loss, nor was I killed by a player. In fact, this particular character has not been to Fel *at all* in several weeks.
Luckily, I did get the "Thy spirit hath recovered!" after 20 minutes or so, and my character was fine, but it was definitely skill loss, and I was definitely not in Fel.
Anyone have any idea what might have happened, or had something similar happen?

Re: A strange occurrence (bug?)
Did you accidentically got killed by your pet? My pet put me into statloss several times, but that was always in fel. Maybe a bug, that you own pet can put you in statloss even in trammel. Have to test it some time.

I don't think so. How could my pet kill me in trammel?

I know you get into statloss if you kill yourself, anywhere

Your pet, and guildmates can kill you anywhere, not just in fel.

Isn't this only the case if you are guilded? The character in question is unguilded...if I attack my pet in trammel, it does no damage to me.
It's conceivable that I killed myself...not sure how, but I was playing with Necro spells without much experience in using them, and there are a couple that do damage to me (although I definitely was not in lich form).
edit: just tested the first statement by attacking my pet in my home (trammel) -- my greater can mana vamp me, but that's about it: its hits and spells do 0 damage. it did cause some pretty weird behavior though (for some reason when I re-logged, I was ejected from my own house and now I can't get back in), so maybe the code for trammel pet interaction is buggy and somehow lead to me getting flagged for skillloss.

Were you in vamp form and then tried to heal yourself with a greater heal spell? The garlic will kill you really fast.

Not unless I miscast something else. Should have been in either wraith form or no form. But I can't remember which now, and vamp form is easy to miss, visually, so it's possible that I did it somehow.
Honestly, I'm still not sure why any of these *should* cause skillloss in ilshenar, even if they can. They all sound like bugs to me.

They could be seen as bugs.
They could also be seen as important disadvantages to being in Factions, which conveys very significant advantages, and few disadvantages, these days.
On Stratics, someone complained that her guildmate, an SL Faction member, incurred Skill Loss from the Harrower.
