Re: Help Treasure Hunting Newbie!

you going to do them alone?

someone needs to have mining to dig them up, unless you are going to depend on rune libraries that have all the treasure maps marked.

I do not know many (if any) T-hunters that have any remove trap or dectect hidden on their characters. just lockpick the chest, move about 6/7 tiles away from it and cast telekinesis on it (which will trigger the trap)

most treasure hunters I know are mage/tamers with lockpicking, cartography in the mix.

also you are decoding maps correctly. they do not work like sos bottles, they give you a picture that you need to go to the exact spot and mine up the chest. I would say that all shards should have at least one public rune library with all treasure maps marked out. You will just have to get familar with the general map areas, if you find another map that looks exactly like another of your decoded maps they are in the exact same place. Eventually you will get to know where the maps are and you will either build up your own set of marked runebooks or use a public rune library.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

This isn't exactly correct, my THunter has 0 mining. Mining simply gives a bonus to stand X numbers of squares away from the exact location of the TMAP spot. The higher the level allows for more squares; up to 5 squares away.

Cartography governs what level of chest you are able to dig up, and lockpicking allows it to be opened once dug up. Take picking and catography both to 100.

Remove Trap and detect hidden are nice but unecessary for THunting in Trammel. Traps can be removed with the low level mage telekensis spell like Warsong says. The two skill may be required to dig up in Felucca, but not in Trammel. They are also 100% necessary on Seige.

Rune libraries can give the co-ordinates to map locations, use them in conjunction with the Treasure Hunters of Britain (THB) website on stratics. That website will give you a picture and the Co-ordinates of each map and then you can match those with the co-ordinates in the rune library to recall to the exact location of a chest.

For some old school fun you can use a sextant and walk there instead.

Re: Help Treasure Hunting Newbie!

my template looks like this

carto 100
picking 100
magery 100
eval 100
music 100
provo 100
peacing 100

i can solo up to level 5s... but level 6s i need help

also when digging them up you have to dbl click your shovel/pick and then target the map... than target the area on the ground its suppose to be dug up at.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease... but if it still squeaks after greasing it then replace it.
