Guilds?

Quick question... Are guilds worth joining especially for the casual player? One of the most annoying things I found with EQ was min time requirements in order to join a decent guild!

Re: Guilds?

I would say yes they are worth joining. In a guild it is easier to find people to hunt with. Usually you can get a lot of help/advice with your character. One guild you can check out is Knights of Superior . Good luck on finding a guild.

Re: Guilds?

It depends on the Guild. Some may be picky on how many hours/hunts you play. Some are more laid back. It depends on what you are looking for. I personally never had a set schedule for playing and just never really bothered with a Guild.

I joined a large PvM Guild on Great Lakes, a few years ago, supposedly a very friendly Guild. After getting killed (multiple times at the Haven bank) and dry looted the Guild leader would not even respond to e-mails (and was never online) so I quit the Guild.

I did spend some time with the FCB (Fishing Council of Britannia) they are a very friendly, laid back Guild. (the earlier Guild would always cause problems at the FCB sponsored net toss also). Shop around for a good Guild. You may have to try a couple. You can get a lot of help from Guilds but they are not required by any means.

Re: Guilds?

A couple of tips:

1. The longer the guild has been around, and the bigger the membership, the more likely it is a legitimate guild with a good reputation. This is a generalization, but true.

2. Any guild which permits green killing (murder of guildmates) and looting of same is not a guild to be in.

3. Any guild that engages in hacking, duping or other gross violations of the UO TOS or ROC is not a guild to be in.

4. Personally, I wouldn't join a guild that uses stupid names, netspeak, or other immature content for guild names, titles, etc. For example, I saw a guild called "PIMP" recently; obviously not something I'm even going to investigate.

A couple of guilds I am familiar (although not a member) with and can recommend are GRI on Catskills and LLTS on Atlantic.

Re: Guilds?

Guilds dont have to be paticularly large to be a good guild. I am in a guild which is rather small but we have been hunting as a group a long time. So I would say more like its how long a guild has been around that really matters. But we are in a large alliance. So u might check to see if they are in an alliance that has been around awhile too

Re: Guilds?

Large guilds don't always mean much. They could only have ten people, with all six chars in the guild to make it look like 60 ppl.

Look for an active guild too. Some guilds are just there to say they are guilded. A good guild will support and help each other, go on guild hunts, etc.

Re: Guilds?

Most importantly, a good guild has the ability to get Scrolls and keep them. Look for a good ole fashioned "Red Guild"

*If anything, find a guild you have fun with.
