Records Public Council Meeting 7th December
Council members present: The Duke, Gwen Irima, Isidore, Dawn and Sakaki.
First item: The Mayor of Trinsic The Duke announces that Gwen Irima will be the new Mayor of Trinsic. Gwen Irima is asked to report her doings. She replies: I have not done much yet because i was merely keeping the seat warm. I have been studying the trade matters as they are now, because in the last meeting it was decided that the mayor is going to take over trade matters. Yet the duke has plans for a new system for trading. He will help me setting it up till i can do that on my own. I am not going to promise you that i will do this or that, because the previous mayors made a lot of promises they did not keep. In agreement with the rest of the council i will arrange things, such as events and i would like to become someone that the citizens feel comfortable with, help them with their problems or other matters. The previous mayors have given the position of Mayor of Trinsic a bad name. I want to clear that name. I can't do everything perfectly but i iwill give it my very best. After these words none have questions and thus the Duke declares Gwen Irima the new Mayor of Trinsic. Her first task is to organise a Christmas party to be held on the 20th of December. Second Item: Trade Associatons The duke: You should all be aware that we have recently signed an agreement with Skara Brae and the Knights Templar. This includes trade, and I hope we may achieve some lucrative transactions. However, here in Trinsic I believe we need to organise our traders better, into associations. These associations will be able to negotiate more effectively, as they will have greater numbers and therefore a greater ability to respond to demands. Anyone who is an existing trader, or who in the future leases a shop or receives a trade licence will automatically be joined to the association. In addition, traders will be paid a bonus each month for the amount of trading they do both inside and outside Trinsic. Of course, a trader who does nothing will receive nothing, but those like Stewan who are assiduous in promoting their wares at virtually every market in the known world will find themselves receiving a not inconsiderable amount of extra income. A fuller description will be made public shortly. Question: Do we need to report our sales? Answer: Not the sales as such, but the activities you have engaged in. How many markets you sold at, how many external trade deals you made. Question: Will there be a bonus for buying too? Answer: If what you do is advantageous in bringing trade to Trinsic it is counted. Question: Will the duchy´s quartermasters be included in the associations? Answer: Yes, the metal workers, wood workers, tailors and their suppliers will all be included. Question: How is that trade association supposed to work? Answer: To a large extend that is up to the members. Any association found to be forming a cartel to control prices will be dealt with, however. Question: Are we supposed to buy our goods from the association exclusively? Answer: No, you should get the best deal that you can, just as now. If you find that local goods are cheaper, then buy them locally. Otherwise trade with other towns and cities. It is more a matter of giving Trinsic Crafters and traders more control and more power in dealing with other towns and cities. Item Three: Orcs, Juka and other assorted unpleasantness A short summary on these matters (by Stewan Seagull) The orcs have recently started to use mechanical gating devices to bring large forces close to the cities. They even managed to drop a gate right into Cove and connect to the common moongate system to strike at Trinsic. They claimed the coming of a new breed of orc responsible for that. Also something calling itself the New Order started spreading propaganda by letter and sound round the cities. The orcs lead an expedition into the Juka town Mistas makin the Jukas intensify their conflict with the Lakeshire Meer. That whole matter is still somewhat of a mystery but they put up transmitter devices in Mistas. Also they reopened the deeper caves of the Orc Mine where they gather materials and assemble devices. I was able to speak to one of the new blood orcs there. They speak clear Britannian and seem to posess a higher awareness than the common orcs we know. The one I talked to claimed to be of the New Order and havin been grown not born of parents. This may link them to the seed pods we found earlier this year. He also said that they had a Master that has to be avenged. So he's prolly dead, but they also wish to recover him. Also they are lookin for Big Bob, the orc chief freed from Yew Prison. His last known position is the lighthouse in the Lost Lands. His home seems to be with this Clan the Black Hand Orcs. The new blood orc said that when Bob returned to them he'd be taken to a "secret homeland" to lead a Wahrg against humans an elves, leadin all clans and the new bloods war machines against the heart of the kingdom. He claimed the secret homeland was underground and close to Britain. Investigations on these matter will continue and the duke urges anyone who can help to do so. Item four: Citizens voices Pierre Le Canard: What are the plans, both in the short and long term, for the lands south of Trinsic? The duke signed his last letter to the Queen with 'protector of the south'. However the actual south, the vast lands south and west of Trinsic, are barely ever stepped on by any Duchy officials. The remainders of Kaldor claim some, but the rest is unadministrated and unused. Which is a shame, since there are reports from prospectors hinting at vast resources. Not to mention the people that go unaided and unadministrated. The trade route to Delucia is most unsafe and none of the resources are employed. The guards of Trinsic patrol the forests occasionally. Guards and Peacekeepers will be paid a bonus for escorting traders, but traders will remain to be free to hire their own escorts should they prefer. As a result of increased trade the city will become more prosperous, this prosperity will be used to pay the bonusses. Announcement Captain Dawn was given an absence of duty by her own request and will be replaced by Iljian during her time away. There are no further questions or announcements, thus the duke thanks all present for coming and closes the meeting. Records written by Gwen Irima
