To fizzle less, swap resist for wrestling perhaps?
Tho then you would have some problems against casters.

keep resist.
swap medi for wrestle.

keep one hand free
wear enhance pot stuff, and carry lots of yellow orange and red pots.
carry orange petals and bolas.
be smart and disarm the dexies (after u bola them...)

very very easy to stay alive even when on foot in wraith. (helps to pull out a dark wolf, specially if u dont carry tr pots...for stam regen...or else!)
if u carry tr pots u dont need the wolf and can use wisp instead for more mr, but with wraith form at most spawns mr isnt a issue cuz u whither sh*t once and all ur mana is back...

anyways, the wrestle necro is a very good template, but the ep is very much a must as are the orange petals and bolas (dont foerget to put on protection for third level at rats too, unless u are with a peacer...)

oh btw...absolutely no reason to have 120 necro...

drop that to 105 and lock it. U might fizzle vengeful spirit on occasion but u will never fizzle strangle, or whither, and 105 is just fine.
Then raise ur spiritspeak to 120 for increased spell damage...

Also, I will toss in here...if you do swap medi out for wrestle, and end up having zero medi+focus (or under 20...) then be human form. You will get three extra mana regen out of it, courtesy of 20 focus+20 meditation.

as for a shield....i would say no.

on my wrestle necro I carry a book (clannin for the lrc+mr) and use no shield...thus keeping one hand free at all times for drinking pots...

I wear the orny and a fcr2 75% ep ring (makes me 2/5 which is passable...)

No parry so why wear a shield...sure you could add dci or casting or both I imagine...but having a hand free for pots is much better imo..

NOW there are one or 2 guys in my guild who try to play a template similar to this (btw this temp is no good for open field...only for despise, harrowers, marble, or other choke point areas) and they dont own the orny...or can't find a good fcr ecru ring...so they might use the vesper chaos shield with the 1/2 casting only because they NEED to for the casting...
But then they dont (or atleast shouldnt...) use a book, which means losing that 3 mr and 15 lrc from clanin...
in any case, its a awesome temp but like I said only good for choke point areas...and certain keys (prot on 3rd level...orange petals, bolas, pots, etc) that without having...the temp is not near as effective.
Then again thatsp retty much the case w/ any template so...

Wrestle/scribe mage w/ ninjitsu
fencing or swords mage w/ ninjitsu+noxxing
4/6 Chiv dexy w/ parry+ninjitsu+noxxing
anat/heal dexy w/ ninja+bush+parry w/ a hiryu
Ninja Archer/dismounter type...

uh...
basically any mage or dexer template choose one, add ninjitsu w/ the right equiptment, and its a good field template...lol

uh

first temp id say no...bush is only good on a mage if you also have parry and then u need 80 dex (or blue pots to get u there) for it to work right.
second temp would be good i imagine...although swords might be better than fencing...use a butcher knife to disarm+nox+ds, and a cleaver to bleed+nox+ds

as for the fizzle problem...you will allways have that. Just got to learn to time you're spells and not try to cast a flamestrike when someone is casting harms on ya...lol

LOL yeah, I am careful with the casting big spells. I try and spam small ones like fireball and stuff.

How about this template?

What do you guys think of this template?

120 mage
120 eval
120 resist
120 med
120 fencing
100 anatomy

I have 100 anatomy stoned (well 94 rather, but it's not hard to raise). I was gonna raise wrestling but then I remembered that if you have anatomy + eval it's the same as wrestling (for everyone who does not know it basically goes eval skill + anatomy skill + 20 divided by 2 so if you had 120 eval and 100 anatomy you would have 120 "evasion chance")

I could carry a SC war fork for specials and chug pots when stamina was needed.

Thoughts?

The final template listed is decent. You will lose some offensive power though.

Explain this fizzle problem exactly because it sounds like it's something that won't be fixed just by changing a template.
