1. Property taxes range them from maybe 10k to 150k depending on size. maybe make luna homes pay 100k more for being in walls of town.

2. weekly lotto kinda like the magicina but you win a percentage of the gold paid in rest of the gold goes poof.

3. raise cost of npc bought items

1) Tax? What is this, the INS? I do not believe taxing will solve anything but frustate people. It is unreasonable, because there is nthing in return (s in RL where taxes go to civil services or repairs /uphold of infrastructure)
2) That might work, but as for gold going poof will mean no one would play at all, sinking that idea faster then gold. So to ensure people play, perhaps tax some of the entry fees, as a ambling tax or somthing, if that even gets of the ground.
3) if the price goes up, then I t least want to buy GM quality stuff, basic gear is useless as it is anyway, if they are at GM level, I woul pay 300 gold for each item (basic weapon or armor piece for instance)
As for reagents or other production item (ingots and wood) te price is alrady too high on NPC's I feel, so foraging itself is the only way to go.

These are not attacks on you, first and foremost, just my opinions on why I think it will not work.

I think the ideas are worthy of consideration.
Property tax, or a monthly ground rent, based upon the size of the property, perhaps even the location, is a perfectly acceptable method for removing gold from the economy.
As to getting nothing in return, I for one am willing to pay to assist in the re-balancing of the UO economy.

Wasn't there once a proposal for property tax? Like years ago. I would support that too. Well, you would earn the right to keep the house. As well as paying the wages for the guards and healers :). Let alone the moongate servies, keeping up the streets and stone walls of certain cities.

Property taxes alone are not going to balance the economy. If anything, they will imbalance it. Luna house owners will just end up charging more to place a vendor there. They will recoop their costs.

And if you make the tax high enough so that they cannot feasibly recoop, you just end up frustrating a lot of players. Currently, on Low-Mid pop shards, finding useful vendors outside of Luna is a royal pain.

1. No to taxes, I pay enough taxes in real life, let me enjoy my virtual one. And no I do not have a house in luna or a castle/keep.

2. Lottery fine but make the ticket a low enough number that new(er) p(l)ayers can afford them also. Because if you make it too high you are just asking for it to fail by not drawing enough gold into the system. Also if you are a newer player if you won say 2 to 5 million it would encourage you to stay in the game since you could being to buy the things you want.

Why not just setup an entire casino, now there is a gold suck. No games where you compete directly with other players (no poker). Just games where you play against the house.

3. no to raising prices on npcs. New players have a tough enough time as it is.

What everyone is forgetting is that since UO went live the economy has been messed up. Since there is no way to prevent new gold from entering the system. Every monster you kill, quest you complete, bod you turn in all give you gold generated at that time from nothing.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

How would Luna people raise prices to recoup if people can't afford to pay the high prices? That would force them to lower it. And I am not talking about paying millions just 10k-150k for non Luna and base that off size and make Luna pay 100k more on top of the size for being in town. Lotto I would say 10k tickets like the magicina lotto

None of the ideas I've seen are useful.

The central problem... To make Any Impact on those who have literally Billions stored, it would have to be So Expensive that it would make that part of the game completely unavailable to those who have less than 100 million.

If the reason for 'fixing' the economy in UO is that there are things that cost far too much which should be more widely available -- all of the suggestions I've seen so far, do the opposite. They make part of the game Require those huge sums to even take part in.

And most of the ideas to date.. work on the simple (and ridiculous) notion that someone who has been here for 13 years, fighting Balrons and Daemons and bigger/badder as they were added...
.. should not have more than someone who started 2 months ago.

Like I said, they will either recoup, or you make the taxes so high that they cannot recoup. (the implication here is that people would not or could not pay). This either forces people to non-Luna vendors (which is not an easy thing to find nowadays), or forces them to wait for the Luna vendors to find a stable/acceptable asking price. Frustration ensues.

Overall, the proposal hinders non-Luna folks more than Luna folks. I would argue this roughly maps to hindering the Low-Middle UO wealth category more so than the High UO wealth category.

Again, its not a horrible idea. I just think without proper supporting systems, it is not the best approach. I think supporting systems for an idea like this should include the goal: de-emphasize Luna as a capital juggernaught.

I already pay a monthly tax to keep my three houses. Let's not ever make it also cost me gold.

You're forgetting that a property tax is exactly counter to what EA likes best about this game: People who pay each month even when they are not playing, just because they don't want their houses or grandfathered houses to fall.

I am a big fan of a 50/50 lotto...the same way my father and I used to raise scholarship money for highschool students: Sell tickets. Half the proceeds go to the winner, the other half go to the charity...or, in this case, goes *poof*.

NPC variable pricing exists to stop the gold machines. Let's leave it there and not impose any greater barriers on new players or new inhabitants of a shard.

I'd like to see the resale of some of the old gift house spots that have fallen. Places like the Malas castles, certain Tokuno island houses, etc, which were given as prizes to preorders long ago and have since fallen should be rebuilt and auctioned off in the same was as the Magincia houses.

they should build a gigantic shopping mall with 4 floors and at least 400 store units... then have the units charge weekly rent and bid on like in magincia..

then get rid of all vendors in regular houses...

only vendors in this super shopping mall can sell things (designated selling area)... no more travelling around to buy things from far off remote places

Delete all the gold in people's banks. Tell people when the delete will happen. If they have so much gold in checks they cannot store in house it gets deleted. EA did this one before to get rid of the over a billion in one check bug. A lot of it is still around.

some of us dont play enough (or dont grind that much) to make 150k a month just to keep our larger houses up.

you really want a gold sink? remove LRC from the game and DOUBLE insurance.

reg vendors everywhere will rejouce! and every mage will go broke again :P
