And additionally, what would you like UOForums to do?

This is an important thread as it covers UOForums' future, should the inevitable happen, so you're welcome to post about things that would otherwise violate our ROC (Freeshards and the like)

As far as UOForums goes, I would hazard a guess that this site would die off rather quickly, given the lack of interest in the other MMO forums here and there would be little point in people posting in the UO areas, given that UO would be non existant.

So a few questions spring to mind, assuming UO were to close.

1) What are your thoughts on UOForums switching to a "Pro Freeshard" forum? and in paticular...

2) What are your thoughts on joining a freeshard run by UOForums?

We can't of course open a freeshard while UO is still alive and kicking, but it doesn't hurt to discuss and plan the future, when UO is no longer around.

So, feel free to discuss!

if the free shard had a pvp based side id defiantly play, plus it would be good to play on one shard with all the uoforum posters.

Do you now something we don't, Adam?

But to answer your questions:
i would probably stop playing online games. i'm hooked to UO, but it's awfully time-consuming. I don't think I would play another MMO.

1) A Pro-Freeshard Forum sounds like a good idea. You would need to make sure that word gets out to the freeshard people, though.

2) An UOF Freeshard would be tempting as the community here rocks and it would surely be fun to play with all you guys.
Oh, and make it IRIS 2 compatible :D

Assuming UO would shut down, I'd turn my back on gaming in general and go play more real life.

I probably would never look at these boards again except out of curiosity some time down the line.

In other words, I abstain from stating my opinion on the questions since I likely won't participate in either.

1) Maybe... Not sure on my stance at this point in time, given that UO is still alive and at least semi-kicking.
2) I'm game! =)

2, As long as I can have a Minion! .. j/k .. Im game!

Even tho I try play a bit more rl these days.

Return to RL and might find another land somewhere to visit. Nothing will replace UO in my heart, nor the friends I have made through it over the years.

Don't know about the forums though. I do visit to keep updated a bit or go off topic, when I take a break from actually playing.

Now what do you know that we don't Adam?

Should UO shutdown, I'd give a freeshard a try, maybe re-up my WoW account or get back into DDO, really just hang with my online gamer friends wherever they go more than anything else, including posting here.

My problem with freeshards is the potential lack of security.

If UO shuts down, I would definately be interested in UOForums offering a freeshard. At least with Adam you know security will be a top priority.

I need my UO!!!

Nothing, honestly, just opinions from various people about the state of UO, got me thinking what would happen to UOForums if UO was shut down
I hadn't really thought seriously about it.

If UO shutdown? I would definitely have to play on one of the free shards as I too need my UO.

I have tried other games and so far nothing has come close to the UO experience.

I'd play on a UOF freeshard. I'd also still visit these boards, until they were gone. I visit more for the community than anything UO these days anyway.

Of course I'd continue playing UO, reguardless of who keeps it going, but the best option would be a UOF, "UO" Server, free or not, I would be more than happy to pay.
Now keep in mind, when EA finally decides to let UO go,.. they wont just turn it off, they'll sell it to the highest bidder, whom will gladly keep UO going "as is" and whom will gladly accept our monthly subscription cost's.
So you see, the current UO will never really shut down, it will just have a new owner.

I doubt EA would sell it off, going from their previous MMO games, they'd rather close it down and retain the copyright.
Just my opinion mind you.
