Ok mine and Husbands account for WOW have been inactive for months. We were just getting ready to active them. When he gets and email saying his password was changed. He went to Blizzard net site thing and now his account is no longer registered to him. Now this morning I get an email saying my account (and I dont even have wow on my computer right now) has been locked due to abusive behavior. ok how? We look into my account. Here his account sent mine a free 7 day trail and bam they are into mine. Now they begin to sell off our stuff for real life money thru my account. Are u seriuos????

So I contacted Acounts Admin thru blizzard. My question? Will they do anything? Will they look into this. I dont even care about the stuff (although the lose will hurt) but we want our accounts back. Does anyone know If they will do anything to try to recover our accounts?

Did you log into the official WoW site?
Were the emails legit emails from blizzard? sounds to me like you opened a phishing email. :(

We followed the links and information, they were from Blizzard themselves. They were official from Blizzard.

Did it work out for you Piper? I'm interested as to how Blizzard handled it compared to how EA handles things.

its very easy to make an email appear to be from any domain name you want. If you aren't totally sure if an email is legit, hit the reply to button and look at the address your reply email is being sent to. That will be the real address.

I don't click any URLs in e-mail, even with spyware blockers.

I have heard of many cases of restored accounts, though items sometimes cannot be salvaged.

Good advice.

Also if you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, I highly suggest getting the mobile authenticator - it's free. It generates a code every 30sec that you need to enter when using account management or logging into the game. It is an extra step to do, but it will make your account virtually impossible to be stolen via keyloggers.

You also get a cool corehound pet ingame :)

I bought the regular authenticator device for my account. It works great, except that I didn't bring it to Afghanistan with me and now I can't log into my account management at worldofwarcraft.com. *sigh* I have too much time on my hands lately

Update. Yes it was from Blizzard I have been working with an account recover specialist. He deals in tracking hackers. Both our accounts were hacked, We recovered my husbands no problem. His was the one with the guild, guild bank and a ton of gold. It was my pitiful account that got hacked. They had accessed his then sent a resurection scroll to my account activated it and began stripping it. It was caught soon enough I did not lose much out of my guild bank. And the gold was given back.

So yea, waaaaay better the uo support. lol

Yep, they don't mess around. They have systems built into servers that makes tracking accounts easier, and like you said, GM's specializing in hacker tracking.

I guess with over a billion dollars a year in subscriptions, you can allow for cool things like that. =) I'm really glad to hear that your getting your stuff back and that Blizzard is being good to you!
