Ok well this has bugged me for a while.. but why not allow horses to get barding and recieve the same benefits as swamp dragons... 20% dmg reduction.. or make a slightly ;less maybe 15% or even 10% (just to make sure swampies stay popular)we already have the animation (charger of the fallen would work) however of course make it so Nightmares can't be barded.. nor any other "uber horse" type monster because whilst i love the benefits of the swampy I hate the look.. i mean really its horrid.

Wouldn't a barded horse be a warhorse? :huh

no, it'd be a horse with cool looking armor and damage reduction. Think charger of the fallen that's tame/bonded.

well actually yes in literal terms it would be a warhorse but since warhorse is a totally different creature in UO... it would be as corvak said *grins* and that was my whole point. cos if i am not mistaken aren't faction warhorses pretty darn tough compared to our run of the mill horse?

a barded horse would still not have any real combat ability (unlike the 'warhorse' we see tamers with from the event) But it would reduce damage done to the rider, like the swamp dragon.

I thought swamp dragons took more than one control slot, but I looked it up and I see that they don't. Therefore, I agree. Don't even think the bonus needs to be reduced, just let people that want to ride Swamp Dragons to be "different."

Doesnt even matter if it does - most people who would really benefit are non-tamers, and unless theyre a mule with a beetle (and mules dont fight) control slots dont really mean much.

Well, it would matter if it took 2 control slots. Then Mages would be limited to one Earth Ele/EV at a time.

I'm in favor of this, too. Swampies are really really ugly.

I've been waiting for horse barding ever since I saw the item standing around in NPC shops! Awesome idea. Would also encourage more knights in the RP scene, possibly?

Could you make the barding colorable, too?

When I read this thread yesterday I remembered this item I had in a dusty old chest... It looks like a regular wood or iron deed and says "Horse Barding"... Can't tell ya much about it, but its way dusty... 8)
