Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, of what is now the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which each occurred. There was some variation in the Moon names, but in general, the same ones were current throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior. European settlers followed that custom and created some of their own names.
Connecting to the Moon is!a way that shamans have gained power for thousands of years.! The Moon is a source of endless energy and love.! Calling down her energy into our bodies helps us to revitalize, open our intuition, and get in rhythm with the natural!cycles of life.

• Full Flower Moon - May In most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere during this time. Thus, the name of this Moon. Other names include the Full Corn Planting Moon, or the Milk Moon.

There will be a Full Moon Ceremony held in the Blessing Circle at the SAGE Guildhouse & Library on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 pm PST.

Gating will begin from Luna City shortly before hand for those wishing to attend this ceremony.

I will try to be there. The ancient Celts had similar rites and ceremonies, and I am very interested in them... :)

Aye! I do be having (mostly un-trained) toons on virtually all Western shards (All the ones that host WRR's Deal or No Deal, anyway!) =)

This is correct, however, I could never list all the various names for each full moon for every one has so many variations but looking forward to having you join us.

Just to put things straight:
  • I never expected you to list all... Just thought it was an interesting tidbit, coming from my perspective... ;)
  • This is a promise to try, not a promise to attend! It *is* at 3:30 AM for me! :reye

Out of curiosity, will you be translating this ceremony to UO, with it's two moons of Trammel and Felucca?

I hadn't planned on it but that's would put an interesting spin on it. Perhaps you can assist me with next months ceremony to do that, ok? ;)

Sounds good! :) I don't know how much lore this is on the moons of Britannia. In our fiction, we always portrayed Trammel as being the white moon and Felucca as being green. :D

Felucca is actually depicted as either a red or white moon in Ultima IX. They are also depicted as being on their side, which might suggest that they rotate around Sosaria in a manner differently than how the moon rotates around earth.

That must've been a royal pain in the behind... I guess they didn't have a choice when more locations got added anyway.

It's a throwback to the old Ultima series. But the old games had a much faster day/night cycle, and the world was much smaller, so walking wasnt such a big deal.
