Could this be where the DEVs are testing SA?

This shard has been in place for prolly a year. Certain UO players were selected to test the shadowlord content before it was put into place.

It's used for testing, but not like Test Center. Focus groups(people who get to see stuff first but sign something sayign they won't tell anyone) often use it to test stuff out and give feedback, sometimes with the devs online with them.

Yeah - most likely they're under NDA. Similar to what you have to agree to if you participate in some closed betas. (I've had to sign them for LOTRO and Tabula Rasa before).

Often it's because they don't like to leak information about future content as they plan on doing a marketing campaign, releasing content slowly.

If you're early on in testing, it can also be because players will hear about things that get cut before release, or competitors might steal it, stick it in their game at the last minute, making the original developer look like a copycat.

We are currently doing an internal focus test of the Stygian Abyss client there.

Will there be recruiting for beta testing by players any time soon?

At this time the internal focus test was via invitation only. We will open up the test to the public so that everyone has a chance to test it out. We will make the announcement when it will be available.

Now thats a question! Wouldn't you rather play the finished version :) It must be better playing a none-broken version. Well its probably not broken but I hope you know what I am getting at.

Same here - KR ran fine enough on my machine, but I didn't like the layout and some of the stuff that seem more borrowed from the 3rd Dawn client than a 2D client reiteration.

I for one love KR and pray that they do not undo the good things that KR has (Inventory, hotbars, macros, crafting, etc.).

It was fun participating in the KR beta (even if it ended prematurely) and I would surely want to take part in SA testing.
