Hello All!

Since the lag in Qatar has dipped a bit, I've grown braver and joined the fight against the evil Shadow invasion armies.

Actually, I think I'm the only player trying to turn the tide anymore...

The spiffy colored armor and weapons are piling up in my bank box. It is a good thing that my stealth tamer's bank strongbox was nearly empty, or I'd have no place for all of this nifty loot.

Here's the thing: These suits of colored armor would look absolutely spectacular on display...but we've no way to display them! I propose the following:

Craftable Armor Display

A character with GM Carpentry should be able to create a manakin that can be placed in a house and 'dressed' with the different armor pieces. I envision a graphic of a figure on a pedestal that, when properly equipped, looks similar to the Gold/Silver suits of armor - but with the type/color of the armor it is holding.

Alternatively, a character with GM Blacksmithy or GM Tailoring *and* GM Carp should be able to take a complete set of matching colored armor and use it to create an armor deco object that maintains the hue of the pieces. It should require a complete set of each color to create, including the kryss if appropriate. It should also be redeedable with an axe. It might even have a little plaque at the base that says "In Remembrance of the War of Shadows" when 'mouseover-ed.'

It is just tragic that this armor will be reduced to 'banksit' status instead of having a more fun and memorable purpose as a true momento of this moment in UO history.

Thoughts?

Very nice idea. I support it :)

I personally don't even bother to pick it up anymore. I collected two sets of red, black and greenish armor for later imbuing, but that's it.

I've seen people use empty vendors to display armor, naming the vendor the armor set theyre wearing.

I thought about that, Tancred. But, what about people who don't want to set their house to public or who can't afford to lose the storage space vendors require? (like me...)

Why worry about decorating a house that isn't public?

Same with your own home in RL, not everyone in the town can see inside your house but you do it up for those you deam worthy.
