What was your first ever UO Template?

Back in 97 I made a character with a very very mixed template indeed-

I had:-

Tailoring
Tactics
Fencing
Magery
Tracking
Hiding
Parrying

In 98:
Swords
Archery
Magery
Tactics
Tailoring
Hiding
And a the last 100 was supposed to go into resist. I never got around to it.

I still have that character (on LS) with almost that template. I eventually dropped tailoring and hiding for healing and anatomy when I took a break from Napa, but otherwise that character is untouched from back in the day.

The first character on Napa (same name as LS char) has (again, untouched in years)
100 tailoring
100 fencing
100 tactics
100 anatomy
100 healing
80 magery
And 120 points I never really used.

My favorite early character had
92 music (nobody could raise music over 92)
62 provoke (for some reason it got stuck for half a year)
92 peacemaking (same story as music)
And eventually GM magery, but I never trained it, never brought reagents to the fight (only looted them) until I suddenly realized that I was a good mage.

Advantages: Never lost anything
Disadvantages: I can still walk a ghost from the terathan keep to Papua with my eyes closed, even after 8 years of not going there (I learned this during the Sicarii event).
The fun part: I would run head first into places that the 7X GM energy vortex hurlers wouldn't dream of going. And win.

I think it was 2002 when I started... was before AoS anyhow.

The first character (Adrianna actually) didn't have a "template" per se, I just trained whatever felt useful on her at the time. So she ended up with something along the lines of:

Swords
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Magery
Eval int
Resist
Arms Lore
Parry

... my problem clearly was that I was thinking of the character in terms of how the Avatar usually was in single player Ultimas. So I assumed that of course you need high dex, and despite being a swordfighter OF COURSE you need magery too. Arms lore just came along in a small amount 'cause I wanted to be able to check how worn out my gear was.

For reference, today she's like this:

120 swords
110 tactics (100 with 10 from sleeves)
100 anatomy
110 healing (the 10 is just there for lack of a better spot)
110 parry (this is where the 10 should go, lacking scroll)
120 bushido
60 or so focus I guess

I do miss being able to just use magery without med and eval int. Was mighty fine running around in full plate armour casting e bolt hehe.

Back in 01 I didn't have a clue about templates or training, so I just played a Swordsman and it took me ages to get to GM.

My template looked something like this (i think):

Swordsmanship
Parrying
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Arms Lore (Did that do anything for warriors back then?)
Resisting Spells
Magery (for recall and mark scrolls)

Today Merion looks like this

120 Sword
120 Parrying
120 Anatomy
110 Tactics
90 Healing
80 Chivalry
60 Focus
20 Stealing (for Town Sigils)

I used an axer.. 100 swords, 100 anatomy, 100 healing, 100 tactics, 100 lumberjacking, 100 parry, 100 resist... that was the goal anyway, I stopped playing that particular one while he was a 5x gm

My first character didn't really have a template. She changed over time the more I got to know the game and the more it changed. She started off as a warrior/tailor, which she still is today.

Swords
Tactics
Parry
Anatomy
Healing
Tailoring (primarily as a money making skill to finance new equipment when the pkays would catch me)
Resist Magic
Hiding (a life saver)

I would later add enough magery to recall around

Back then to GM swords and Parry all you needed to do was hang in Shame and kill hundreds of Earth Eles. Just like killing Bone Skells for archery. Archery took longer. My first template looks like all those above.
Add to the Joy of Life rather than others Misery!!

my very first char, of course, I didnt know wth I was doing. Oh, I need strength? Cooking is a fast and easy way to get that!

Swords(GM)
Tactics(GM)
Healing - got to the point I could rez
Anatomy(GM)
Fishing(GM) - best way to make gold back then! and easy since there didnt use to be serpents when you pulled up a mib
Magic Resist - from hours spent fighting liches
Item ID - dropped it after I figured it was better to use Item ID wands
Cooking - used a lot at first just to gain str
Magery - just a little for Recall, maybe 35?

I was sorta like Tancred, my G.v.P used to have taming, swords, tact, anat, healing, parry, fishing, cooking, and some mining and blacksmithing back in '99 before I made him a pure swords, then I changed him to a necro mage later on :)

A friend let me make a char on his account, to get me into the game. This was on Chesapeake, in 98 I think. I remember just walking around, trying everything, getting killed.... Britain was -packed-. People everywhur!

I didn't have a clear idea of templates or anything, but I wanted to make a blacksmith - type. Skills? None of them at GM:

- Mining
- Tinkering
- Blacksmithy
- Hiding
- Magery
- Resist spells

Some taming - I liked to have a few dogs tagging along - and other skills I tried out along the way, like tracking, arms lore and cooking
