Recently reading some of 'and bears' posts on her perspective of the game and classess played, I thought it would be nice to start a thread where folk can post their experiences.

For new players its nice to look back at how you felt, and for those of us further along, its good to remember how new players feel :P

So post away Freep/Creep regardless.

Now that I'm twenty nine levels and about three weeks in, I figured it might be a good time to sum up my experiences so far for Tabbs' thread :).

I'm enjoying this game much more than I'd expected to enjoy any MMO after burning out on them a few years ago. It has a very nice new player experience that always gives you something to do, is very pleasantly solo-able outside major instances (and inside them, with the exception (I'm told) of Coldbear, doesn't have any of the Six Hour plus marathons that world of warcraft had)) has a very nice group dynamic - it's very novel seeing mostly weapon based ranged and melee attacks and very little magic when backing a group (something that I strongly hope the runekeeper doesn't change too much) and has a setting that makes me ridiculously happy :).

I've only played a minstrel so far (I'm trying not to do the 30 alts before I have a single max level thing that burned me out on WoW) and I love the mechanics, the morale rather than health thing and the musical metaphor for healing has a very different flavour to traditional priest classes and the misntrel is suprisingly versatile - moreso than healers I've played in any other game. I may start another character when I've hit the top with Klyssa - I'm pondering warden/hunter/champion though Ereborna makes guardians look nice too.

The quests are fantastic - even your basic collect quest doesn't have too low a drop rate and the fluff text that goes with them makes everything a lot more fun. they're also very plentiful - I've never found myself needing to grind to fill the gaps between quests, if anything it's the opposite way around - I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up with available quests before they go grey :).

Grouping has also been a lot of fun, I've met a lot of competent, friendly people who seem quite happy to join in with a little light in-character play if I'm being that way about it. And occasionally I land in a group so good that I go away from it feeling absolutely blissed :). I'ts been good getting help from people in the Kin too - thank you, everyone.

In short, the game is fun, doesn't demand I give up having a life in order to play, is very, very pretty (omg rivendel!), has fun crafting, some nice little fluff things like being able to dye armour that I always miss if they're absent, good questing and gameplay, fantastic setting (I like lotr but am not a complete lorefiend) and I'm in good company playing it.

Here's to the next thirty levels (given that moria will kick in long before I ding 50) being as fun as the last :).

I wish it wasn't so expensive to farm...

At first, I took this statement as farming creeps in the Ettenmoors and agree killing creeps shouldn't be so expensive to repair your gear. For those that know me, they could understand that train of thought.

The more I thought about, Cabe could have also meant farming monsters for resource materials, silver pieces, or for turn in's. A good honest way of living for a Middle Earther. Then it dawned on me, he probably meant growing pipe weed. :)

As I have yet to be able to head to the Ettenmoors, I can not agree with Maddux's first point. The truth though, lays between the second and third. Though after playing for more then a week, I would say it is closer to the second.
