I've very nearly maxed out my first new character, Gaspar LeMarc, since I came back to UO. He is a theif and mage and I'll post some screens when he's finally impressive enough for my tastes. It will be a proud day... just a few more skill points to go.

Now, I'm thinking about a new character and want this one to be a little cheaper and a little easier. I'm thinking about going with a pure melee fighter. I want to inflict the most damage in the shortest amount of time so here's the question:

What are the caps for SSI and damage increase and what is the best weapon/gear combo to achieve the quickest swings? I'm thinking about mace fighting with the berserker's maul, but I read somewhere that the SSI cap was something a lot less that 75%. Is this true? If anybody has stats for weapon/gear combinations to achieve the fastest possible strikes that deal solid damage, please let me know! I can get damage increase up through a variety of means so SSI is the key for me right now. Thanks!
