He's here! He's here!" could be heard echoing through the halls. One by one kids could be seen jumping from their bunk beds and running toward the reception hall. Those children in the play area, dropped their toys and the leather ball and ran to the reception hall. Miri turned off her bunson burner and left her alchemy set setting in a quiet corner of the orphange and ran towards the commotion.

Miri enter the reception area, she saw Maddux and a crowd of children forming a single file line infront of Maddux. Miri quickly scanned the area for Eowyna and got into line. Maddux set a giant brown bag on the ground, unbuckled his weapon belt with two short swords attached, and handed it to the Orphanage Matron Nicole Bartlet. Nicole looked at Maddux "All of your weapons, please." Maddaux grinned and handed several more Fel Steel Throwing Knives and Ced's Carver Dagger. A faint black glow could be seen emitting from the sheathed dagger, and several of the children stared at the weapon in astonishment. One of the orphans whispered to another "They called that The Hand of God."

Maddux began to hand out candy and a silver piece to each of the orpahns in line, but non-chantly kept an eye on Nicole Bartlet as to where she placed his weapons. Maddux thought to himself, This maybe Sanctuary, but trouble has a way of finding him. Nicole Bartlet set the weapons behind the reception counter.

Eventually Miri made her way to the front of the line. Miri asked "Where is Lady Eowyna?" Maddux smiled "She is under the weather for the moment. Nothing serious and she should be feeling real well very soon." Maddux placed some candy and a silver piece in the palm of her hand. With a well practise slight of the hand motion, Maddux dropped two silver pieces in Miri's pocket without her knowing or anyone seeing. Maddux smiling at Miri "Dont burn the place down with your alchemy set." Miri smiled back "I'll try not to."

With no more children inline, Maddux handed Nicole Bartlet a pouch and the sound of coins can be heard rustling inside the pouch. Maddux said "It's just something to help keep the place running." Nicole bartlet nodded "Thank You."

Maddux grabbed a chair and quickly took a seat. Maddux grinned "Children gather round, for I have a tale to tell. A time of great heroes and of great scarifice." the children quickly formed a semi circle around Maddux with their eyes and ears all fixated on Maddux.

Ciaphus Cain quietly watched Maddux from across the way. Hiding in the shadows, hands resting on the pommels of his short shords and quietly thinking how out of the Ordinary it is to watch The Bandit King infront of children instead of bar patrons.

Maddux sat before the children, "The Story I have to tell you is from our own History. A time of great sacrifice." Maddux paused and looked left to right at each of the children. Maddux broke the silence, "The Great Orc Army of Kull Trakas was invading The Great Forrest." At the mention of Kull Trakas, the children became scared, but remained very still. Maddux grinned "A hero answered the call and gathered an army to meet Kull Trakas. His name was Lord Rohanna and this is his story." Miri smiled and whispered to her friend Emilee "That must be Lady Eowyna's father."

Lord Rohanna watched the sun rise this mourning, wondering if it would be his last he would see. From his vantage point, Lord Rohanna could see the awe-inspiring sight of thousands of elven archers, halbadiers, swordsmen, and cavalrymen. Colorful Banners of many Great Elven Houses fluttered in the wind. Lord Rohanna smiled with pride that he was leading this great army into battle.

Hundreds of horses whinned and stamped their feet, aggravated at the foul smell of the orcs massing not to far away. Elven Priests moved through the ranks blessing the soldiers and their weapons. Lord Rohanna looked east and could see that another Elven Army has come to join his and from its banner it was House Elrond."

Lord Elrond and Lord Rohanna shook each other's hand. Each Lord dressed in Elven Minthril Plate Mail. Their armored decorated with their emblems on their chests. Great two handed swords at each of their sides. Lord Elrond looked at Lord Rohanna, "I will hold the right flank." Lord Rohanna replied "I will hold your left flank and together will hold the center of the line." Lord Elrond with a pained look "I have bad news, the Dwarves and the Humans are not coming." Lord Rohanna grinned "They would only get in the way." Both Lords exploded into laughter.

A swelling roar built from the mouth of the valley, guttural orchish chanting that echoed in time with the the clash of swords and axes on iron shields. The two Lords stopped their laughter and looked towards the mouth of the valley.
"So it begins." said Lord Rohanna.

The mourning mist vanished as the sun climbed higher nad higher. A line of armored orcs stretched from one side of the valley to the other. Their dark furs, horned helms and dark armor made them standout this mourning. they marched in loose formation with no discipline to their march. Orc's riding black furred worgs streamed forward of the colums of orc infantry. Packs of snapping worgs, with long fangs and thick fur matted with dried blood ran forward with the Worg riders, their chilling howls causing the hair on one's neck to rise.

Lord Rohanna looked toward's his Adjudant "Now!" The Adjudant waved the banner and the elven archers let loose volley after volley of arrows. Lord Rohanna watched as the arrows struck the densly packed orcs. Blood sprayed in a red mist from the strucken orcs as they collapsed to the ground. In seconds closed ranks and continued onwards.

Lord Rohanna, grinned with pride in his elves as they fired their bows with great accuracy. Worgs, and orcs screamed in agony as the Elven archers killed them in the hundreds. Rohanna knew that arrows would not win this battle alone. Slamming his fist into his palm "Those worg riders are getting to close!"

The Worg Riders rode in close before expertly wheeling their mounts away. Each time they would shoot arrows from their powerful recurved bows and each time dozens of elves would fall to the grounds, pierced by by black glowing arrows.

The Worg Riders charged the Elven line againg. Tempting them to break ranks and charge them, but Lord Rohanna and Lord Elrond gave explicit instructions not to engage the Worg Riders in hand to hand. As the the Worg Riders retreated, the packs of worgs hit the elven lines. the worgs attacked in a flurry of claws and fangs. The lines shuddered, but elven halbadiers and swords men broke the worgs momentium and quickly slaughtered them. Elven Druids and Priests began to dragg the wounded back to the casualty collection points as the remaining elves began to close their lines.

The fearsome black line of orcs kept coming, hordes of them. Lord Rohanna felt a shiver of fear as he realized the sheer number of them. They came in a never ending wave of black iron and horns. Monstorous orcs with brazen axes and swords. Hordes of heavily armored Worg Riders rode alonside of the orc infantry. Their mounts growling in anticipation of blood shed. Their riders carrying huge bladed war axes.

Hordes of armored chariots rumbled through the advancing orc line. Cruel, hooked blades protruding from the chariots wheels, and Lord Rohanna shuddered at the thought of them crashing through his lines. Lord Rohanna yelled "Fire on those damm chariots, aim low! I want those foul beasts pulling them shot down!" The Adjudant pointed and waved the flag at the chariots.

A huge roar fulled the valley as the first wave of the army of Kull Trakas charged into the elven lines. The hordes came in ragged groups, hughe swords and axes swinging wildly. The elven halbadiers lowered their weapons into the charging orcs as the first of the enemy was impaled on the mighty points of the halbards. Screams and shouts drifted from the battle as orcs were run through or hacked to death with elvish steel.

The Elven line bent back under the massive weight of the charge, frezied orcs hacking left and right with their enormous weapons. the fighting was brutal, and brief, and Lord Rohanna watched the fight. He knew this was only the tip of the ice berg. The worst has yet to come.

Captain Kilan wiped blood from his eyes and slapped the elf nearest hmi on the back with pride as they shouted "Gurth gothrim Tel'Quessir!"* Bodies littered the ground and he shouted at his soldiers to close ranks. the wounded and the dead were dragged back by priests and druids.

"Captain, are you alright?" asked one of the priests. Kilan replied "Dont worry about me, I killed the orc who did this to me." The priest nodded, but Kilan could see fear in the priest's eye. Kilan didn't blame or fault him for being scared. The last attack had almost broken them. Kilan and The First Sergeant had led the counter-attack that broke the first wave. Smoke drifted across the battlefield, and Kilan strained to see how the Elven line was holding up. Private Warsock yelled a warning as more orcs appeared through the smoke. kilan's Elves had courage, that was without a doubt, but courage could only last so long.

The orcs assualted the Elven Lines for another hour, breaking against elven halbards, swords, and arrows. Each attack killed scores of orcs and elves, but was repulsed everytime. Dozens of orc chariots had charged forward, ripping into the flanks of the elves and scything screaming elves down with their bladed wheels. the Orc charioters were skilled and wheeled their chariots around, drivng across the front of the elven line. The Elves managed to drag the charioters down and hack them to pieces.

Lord Rohanna watched his elves fight with pride, but knew that the battle could not continue this way. They were killing hundreds of orcs, but his own casualties were mounting rapidly. In a war of attrition, Kull Trakas had thousands more orcs than Rohanna had elves. The center of the elven line was barely holding. Lord Rohanna gave the order for two regiments from reserve forward to replensih losses on the line. Lord Rohana knew that Kull Trakas had yet to fully commit his horde to battle.

Captain Kilan yelled "Now!" and his men lowered their halbards once again as the orcs charged thier lines. The elves surged forward to meet the orcs. The two great forces met in a flury of steel and flesh. Kilan swept his heavy sword, its edge dulled by hours of fighting, through the neck of an orc and kicked another in the crotch as steped over bodies that lay on the ground.

An orc swepted an axe at Kilan, who ducked below its swing, trusting and turning his blade into his attacker's groin. The orc screamed somthing hellish and fiendish before collapsing to the ground. The heavy sword lodged into the orc's groin, being pulled from Kilan's hands. Kilan grabbed a fallen spear and blocked a downward sweep of an axe, slamming the butt of the spear against the temple of his attacker. Quickly reversing his grip, he thrust the spear's tip into the orc's chest.

In slow motion, all around Kilan, elves screamed, and cried for help. The air had the foul stench of blood and terror. The noise of steel on steel rang through the air. Kilan stabbed and stabbed with his spear. Finally tearing through the orc's thick black leather armor, and striking an artery. Blood spurted from the wound as Kilan pulled the spear from the orc. Kilan managed to catch a glance of Lord Rohanna's Standard flapping in the wind.

Lord Rohanna watching the battle, could see his young Captain Kilan looking up at him. Lord Rohanna nodded, and Kilan smiled. Rohanna was proud of his elves. This wave of orcs were broken, but in the distance he could see huge monstorous worgs charging forward. Huge beasts with enormous jaws with razor sharp fangs protruding from them with muscled bodies bounding and leaping over the bodies strewn across the battlefield.

Captain Kilan yelled "Hold Fast!" as cries of alarm spread through the lines. The braying beasts toppled elves, as their snapping fangs tore faces off. The beasts stopping only to gorge on the flesh of their victims. Kilan fell over from the force of the worg charging down on him. His spear flying in the air, Kilan grabbed his dagger and began to stab the worg. The worg's massive jaws, snapping shut on his skull and tearing it off with one bite.

The screams of the wounded were piteous as the worgs tore into them. Silvarian, forced himself to shut out screams and moans of the dying. Silvarian, sat upon his war horse, watched and waited for Lord Rohanna's signal. Silvarian removed his minthril war helm, golden locks of hair streaming free, cold blue eyes surveying the battlefield, and handed the helm to his squire.

Silvarian grinned "I want those orcs to see who will be killing them today, so there will be no mistake for the history books." Silvarian saw the signal he had been waiting for and looked towards his squire "My lance."

Silvarian's Cavalry formed online, black lances held at the ready. Their war horses anxiously striking their hooves on the ground. Silvarian spurred his warhorse forward, and all one hundred of his Lancers followed. They galloped past the dwindling reserve forces, through the smoke and saw the remains of Captain Kilian's Company. Almost everyone of them butchered to the elf. The giant Worgs feasting upon the wounded and the fallen.

Silvarian yelled "*Ta Quel Re Ba! Charge!" lowered his lance, placing his weight in the stirrups as he leaned over his war horse's neck. The ground trembled to the thunder of the hooves. The Worgs looked up from their feast, fangs dripping with blood.

Silvarian and his lancers charged into the Worgs with a furious thunder of hooves and shattering lances. Silvarian thrust his lance into a worg's chest, driving the tip straight through the chest. The worg howled in agony as it was knocked from its paws. The lance snapped, and Silvarian discarded it and drew "Vanya Sulie" from his scabbard. The Elven Great Sword glowed an erie red.

Silvarian and his Lancers circled their war horses, slaughtering the last of the Worgs. Silvarian knew that that these worgs had broken the line, and could see countless Orcs moving to exploit the weakness.

Silvarian shouted "Lancers with me!" dragging on his reins and wheeling his war horse once more.

Lord Rohanna sent more runners to order his reserves forward, fearful that the orc attack might exploit the new weakness in his lines. His reserve troops were running seriously low and there was only so long that this can continue in this war of attrition. Rohanna, scanned portions of the battlefield.

"Our lines are becoming to weak, send the last of the reserves forward." running his hand ond over his scalp in contemplation. His executive officer said "Aye."

The noise of the fighting was tremendous. Rohanna, heard nearby screams from somewhere nearby, but was unable to locate the source of it. "You!" pointing to his last remaining runnner. "Findout where thats coming from, and get back here as soon as you findout!"

Lord Rohanna felt a strange sensation crawl up his spine and glanced behind him. Druids of The Cenarion Circle formed a circle, with their hands raised, shouting into the wind. Rohanna did not understand their words, but watched as a mist gathered around the druids, and tendrils of light shot forth from their hands into the ground. briefly, he wondered what sorceries they conjured.

Rohanna returned his view back towards the battle. "Oh..no..." he whispered, seeing a large figure in shimmering black armor and a helm of a snarling wolf. There could be no doubt about it. This was the Orc Warboss Kull Trakas.

Lord Rohanna was suddenly aware of the silence from his archers, and his worst fears were confirmed when he he saw his runner's horse galloping by, its rider's headless body still gasping the reins. He saw the worgs rampaging across the archer's positions.

The monstorous worgs were drunk on blood, and frenzied to the point of intoxication by the slaughter. The beasts ran down hill towards the druids and their circle.

Rohanna dragged on the reins of his warhorse and shouted "Elves with me!" Rohanna and his guards desperately charged to intercept the Worgs before they hit the Druids. He knew he shouldn't be exposing himself to these kinds of risks, but old instincts are hard to break. The Worgs saw them coming and altered their course to meet them head on.

Lord Rohanna and his guard smashed into the Worgs. Their heavey lances and swords skewering the worgs. Many of the worgs were trampled to death by the elven war horses. the last remaining worgs were hacked to death by the guards. Rohanna returned his attention back towards the battlefield. The Elven line was bending back under the force of the orc's attacks and as he watched, terror slowly crept upon his face.

Maddux stretched his arms and yawned "Ahh... perhaps I shall finish this story later.." The Orphans all looked at Maddux in shock and silence. Miri stood up and put her hands on her hips "No Maddux! You will do no such thing!" Maddux was shocked but quickly recovered his composure before anyone noticed. Maddux's thoughts drifted to Eowyna, the only other woman who could ever tell him no.

Maddux grinned "Ok, Here some more silver, lets get some punch and some cookies." and handed Orphanage Matron Nicole Bartlet another pouch full of silver. The children yelled "Cookies!!" Happiness was in the air and Maddux was loving all the attention, but his attention drifted outside towards Cephias Cain lurking in the shadows.
