Actually Getting Beter But Still Away To Go

The graphics are mega improved :)

*tips hat to Cathat and the other artists*

The macro system is really great. At this time I think it would be a waste of time for UOA to make a program to work with KR.

*edit: Not sure who worked on the macros but you have really done a great job. Kudos to you also*

Those two areas need a few tweeks but overall they are ready for the public.

Now when they get the performance of the client where it needs to be. I think EA will have produced a winning new client.

IMHO KR is getting close to being out of "Beta" testing :) .

I voted average, but it's getting better with every patch. I would have voted good now. The general graphics are amazing.
Only thing I still sigh at when I see is the items I can't recognize because of the blurred detail. I can't wait for the clothes to get proper attention in the way of clipping issues. So many beautiful combinations to try out.

UO:KR is choppy/laggy on many areas, it's worse than a full 3D game like Ryzom, wow, EQ2, etc. Why this game is more slow than the full 3D games ? The game interface is slow too :/

The graphics are very nice, but doesn't respect the 2D style. Some clothes styles, weapons (like black staff), hats (magician hats) are totally differents from 2D to 3D, so i can't have the character style i want.

On the other hand, the interface is usefull, the graphics are really better, and we "can" play with a large view (but it's not useable for me).

I think KR looks wonderful. It does have quite a bit of work to go before I would consider it anywhere near a gold edition though. I really don't see why they insisted on ending the beta so quickly.

The biggest issue I have with KR right now is the seemingly huge gap I experience between the time I tell my character to move and when he actually begins to moves. It feels like it's very long time. In 2d I can be a surgeon with my character, darting in and out of trees and buildings, but in KR I constantly break my nose on walls and trees because of how clunky my control has become.

P.S.
I liken KR to Einstein. His family thought he was mentally challenged because he didn't learn to speak until four years old, and couldn't speak properly years after. Perhaps in a year or two, KR will really begin to shine and show us what it can really do.

We can hope.

Gave it a 3 - average, looks are better (ok, not 100% better, but more is better than not), but just about everything else is either the same, not much better, or worse.

I waited a bit to get the new client. Very glad I did from what I can get from these posts. My character is a bit slower than I like, but overall, I think it's a great improvement. I'm not hating on the old 2D client (I've played it damn well long enough) but all things must change. EA needed to do this and I think it's been done well. I wish things were a bit crisper still, but I am having fun re-exploring Brittania. Good bordering on Excellent.

There just aren't enough things I like about it for me to give it more than a 2 and I felt that was generous...

I'd suggest waiting for another patch or two. Still to many people not able to patch/play. Hopefully that will change with a couple of good patches :-/

Graphically UOKR is wonderful but practically it reduces the gameplay experience and is nothing but frustrating to use. Just decorating my house I encountered 4 bugs... a music bug, a pickup and move bug, an access bug and a place bug. Not to mention the horrible lag and random crashes I had to endure... I'd rate it very poor because to me... graphic means nothing if the gameplay doesn't work properly. I can't sit and stare at a picture all day, I want to actually play the game as well. If that was the case they could've just given us wallpapers of our houses and events...

Frankly, I am having to load my game onto my husband's computer and after hearing of incompatibility issues am concerned to even try installing KR on his... If I crash his computer he will go ballistic.. sorta... he is non computer guy and even adding a game to his hard drive is a big thing to him, as he thinks it will affect his performance and he uses it for his job.

I would use 2D, to be honest
Until they radically fix the problems UOKR has, I'm not going to try it again for sometime.

That's pretty much my decision. So I haven't even seen the KR in over a month... Not that I expect it to be more to my liking. I don't think they will be reworking areas of my discontent. Right now, though, I am even afraid to finish my house remodel that I started 7 months ago. Found that my Doom item wouldn't lock down.. reported it.. and stopped decorating.... it's a mess and I dare not move things. That's why I don't come post much... I am unhappier after discussing it and just put the whole thing out of my mind until I feel I MUST go see if my account is still there and safe.

I just patched up the other day and logged on fora minute or 2 just to grab the gifts on a few chars.

Its looks fairly polished in a few areas, but was very cumbersome and awkward in others.

I might hop on tonight to give it a little run through on my Fencer and go try to kill some stuff maybe mess with settings and see how it runs.

I have to say that Im awfully surprised at the sluggishness of the performance. Im running a "budget gamer rig" that should be able to run this game at decent settings but it certainly didnt seem that way when I was on the other day...

agreed.

the single click menu is still there, but you need to click the target to target it, then in your small healthbar target window, you rightclick.
took me a while to adjust too, but I actually prefer hunting with KR now. if it weren't for the crashes it would be safer and more enjoyable.

edit : I think you can shift click too actually, but not sure

I only gave it good because I have to buy a new computer for it. If they stop the 2D client Im going to have to stop playing. Dont have $900 to spend on a game.
