Pet Power Calc and GM+ Skills

Currently, skills make up a very small percentage of the overall score on the Pet Power Calculator (Pet Power Calculator | UOCraft.com).

Resists = 65% of the score.
Hit Points = 25% of the score.
Stats = 5% of the score.
Skills = 5% of the score.

However, when considering the quality of a pet, skills that train over 100 can be considered a significant factor.

For pets that can train skills over GM, would you like to see the calculator place higher importance on the quality of those skills?

If yes, please suggest how you would arrange the 65/25/5/5. (What category would you take away from to place more weight on skills)?

Skills are nice, but they're completely mutable. Any dragon or cu or whatever can be given all 120s, and including this as a standard for how good a pet is would unbalance it. You could show me a dragon with max resists/HP and zero skills versus a drag with mediocre resists/HP and max skills, and I wouldn't hesitate to take the max resist one.

There are certain dragon skills that top out variably per pet.

I say its only relevant with certain pet types.

I too think that resists are paramount, but going for a 60/25/5/10 should be fine.

I feel that you should reconsider the way in which hit points are factored into the equation. For instance, my greater dragon has 126 wrestling trained, almost perfect resists, but low hit points, yet the thing is a beast compared to another greater dragon of mine with 110 wrestling, good resists, and very high hit points.

In my opinion, hit points after a certain point just simply no longer factor into the strength of a pet. I can see how important it is for a pet with innately lower hit point maximums, but honestly, for something like a greater dragon, anything over 700 hit points and it no longer matters (so long as it has good resists).

I would propose that certain creatures get a different calculation because of its circumstance. For greater dragons for instance I would propose:

Resists = 65% of the score.
Hit Points = 10% of the score.
Stats = 5% of the score.
Skills = 20% of the score.

For creatures that can only attain 100 skill, I would propose:

Resists = 70% of the score.
Hit Points = 25% of the score.
Stats = 5% of the score.
Skills = 0% of the score.

For skills that can go above 100 I would propose:

Resists = 65% of the score.
Hit Points = 15% of the score.
Stats = 5% of the score.
Skills = 15% of the score.

How about letting the user determine how the percentage should break down instead? Or at least including it as an option?

You can keep the "default" as is, but allow the user to tweak the numbers a bit. Like a Greater Dragon would have a little different criteria to me then a Cu would, and a Rune Beetle would be different then a Hiryu. And pets vary amongst the same types whether used for PvM or PvP as well.

Kitiara, I've always interpreted the results of the Pet Power Calculator to be relevant only when comparing two pets of the same type. For example comparing one Greater Dragon to another Greater Dragon. It's not necessarily relevant when comparing pets of two different types, such as a Frenzied Ostard to a Greater Dragon, for a whole slew of reasons, skill training being only one. I don't think it makes sense to try to accommodate an objective scale of a pet's power.

Hail, Mixels - Aye, that is the intention of the calc (to compare pets of the same type). There are far too many variables that are subjective to even attempt to apply programming logic to them

I figured. My point, though, was that skill caps aren't relevant when comparing pets of the same type because pets of the same type will have the same skill caps.
