  1. SOE Lays Off 41 Employees Posted Jul 17, 2009 by Michael Bitton In a statement made to Massively by SOE, five percent of Sony Online Entertainment's workforce, or 41 employees, have been laid off today. The lay offs were made to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency. The full statement to Massively is available below: "In a move to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs, Sony Online Entertainment has eliminated 5% of its full-time workforce, equaling 41 people. SOE looks forward to continuing its leader
  2. An official website representing their products. Star Wars Galaxies. From Reception & Criticism. Bold face is mine. So at first you had to earn the Jedi character, then they decided to make it a starting profession because that's what people seemed to want... yet this outraged people who had spent months trying to unlock the character the old way. Although the article doesn't mention it, I heard there was a "beast master" profession which was removed from the game. I'm not sure of the validity of this. Anyway, to balance this, here's an article for SOE's original MMO, Eve
  3. Wow... I couldn't agree with this guy more. Sony is killing Blu-Ray. Blu-ray is dead - heckuva job, Sony!
  4. Over in Japan, Sony has just launched a fairly well-spec'd digiframe that's certainly worthy of attention. The VGF-CP1 packs a 7-inch 800 x 480 resolution panel, multicard reader / USB port, 100MB of free internal memory (85MB for pictures, 15MB for music), support for still images / MP3s / WAV files and built-in 802.11b/g WiFi. Aside from showing off your recent vacation snaps, the unit can also display the current time, check in with your favorite RSS feeds and keep you up to speed with the latest weather forecasts. No telling if this thing will ever see US soil, but those parked in Tokyo
  5. taken from Thread :-Sony's "Experiment" with Real cash for Virtual Goods is a "Success" UO UHall ########################### Comment *Hoping this post is not considered to be directly related to ebay stuff* According to this article, Sony claims that Station Exchange has been a success. It allows players to sell/trade virtual EverQuest items for real-world cash... I'd be rather happy to see EA/Mythic do something similar. ############################ Although deep down I am probably morally opposed to this sort of thing, when I look at it from a business perspective, I really
