Just a little something to remember Naeloth by. Unfortunately, I don't have another interim map, as there were of course changes between those times... And even now, the only houses left are numbers 1,2 & 9... Of course if anyone else has an old map of the place, feel free to post it here.

Yes, they were great times! It saddens me nowadays. Aly and Garod play LOTRO mostly- there are no EN left that I am aware of, and there are about 3-5 active Tremere.
Here's another piccy Jhaniss provided me with, regards. |

| Re: Historical Naelothian Maps | | Yes welcome. There are plenty of us oldies around I cannot believe I have been playing UO so many years now! I really miss roleplaying. Was good the old days. My characters were Necro Operandi, Ebony Balthazar, and Markus Balthazar.
Time really seems to fly!
Tabbs, did you get my PM's? Would love to catch up with you sometime! I still have Shannon in the KH!!!
We should do an old school reunion! That would be fun depending on whether people still have their UO accounts active that is.

Thank you for the welcome. : ) It's been about 9 years and Naeloth is still something I take great pride in, and is near to my heart. Xirzin, Morisha and I co-founded the guild together. The first structure was a small tower Southeast of Skara Brae, south of the mountains. We then managed a couple of towers and houses near the center of Hythloth(right above the snake pits, hell cant remember what they are called).
I created chars on about a dozen shards, running around trying to find potential house placements (was a pain trying to get chars 15 minutes old to hythloth!), by checking out where others were able to place theirs. We then moved to the NE corner of the isle, where there was great potential for housing.
I suckered a couple of guys( frenchies I think) out of the Poisoned Elf spot, where they had 3 smalls placed at the time. I traded a Villa I had on the SW beach tip of Naeloth for them. When they saw that I was able to place a Villa AND a log cabin where they had only 3 smalls, they were not happy, hehe : ) Morisha Relms rl hubby, Del Vloss, came up with the Poisoned Elf name.
Xirzin was declared the leader from the start, (Mori and I didn't want the administrative paperwork!) backed by the dark council, (Xir, Myself, Mori and later Olath). An excellent choice of leader, Xirzin, who carried on long after I quit playing( mid 2001 I think). Great times indeed. On occasion I would google Naeloth, and was always surprised to find people still interested in keeping it alive. *sniff*
A little history for ya. : ) -Tars d'Tarkas

No sooner was the DOG (Drow Outcast guild) guildstone placed, I appealed to Pad O Lion to help get us into ERPA, which later happened. My philosophy then was to declare war on as many RP guilds as possible, ERPA as well as nonERPA. Alot of meetings and diplomacy was to be had! Fyi, many non erpa guilds at war with us eventually did become part of ERPA. True RP can only happen when the parties involved are attackable to one another. We eventually had an enemy list that rivaled the Sebered Heds orcs. Fyi, allies were also declared enemies for the sake of making them orange and therefore attackable.
All of these enemies and allies, along with plenty of red players, is what kept Naeloth an interesting place to be, and fairly protected. Whether your guild was attacking us, or you were there by yourself simply looking for some RP, or trouble, or RP trouble, things were happening. You were either red, orange or a guildie. Blue players were frowned upon and unwelcome. At this time, we were the IDA, eventually to become simply, the Empire. ( The name I had always strived for, being a Mirror Mirror(star trek) fan).
It was all of these players, allies, reds and enemies( some of whom had a drow alt), all having a stake in the town, that helped with its defense against troublemakers. Hatchet Harry and his girlfriend even had drow alts( Sorry Harry, I know you wanted this kept hush, but its been 7 yrs!) and when I would send him an icq telling him of trouble beyond our capability, a gate would open in Naeloth and the ddi would pour thru and spank the hell outta them troublemakers. That was pretty cool. : ) Another pk incident, I cast a gate that led to a 2 tile island. I went thru, followed by 2 pks. Xir, others poured thru and we killed them, and left their ghosts stranded on the island. hehe. Great fun.
So, the more enemies, allies, battles and other scenarios you have, the more people you have at hand ready to defend your home. The reason I have layed all of this out, is because I am wondering what eventually caused Naeloth to fall. Was the above philosophy continued after I left? Do you think it would have worked during your time? Reading all the posts regarding Naeloth, it sounds like alot of people simply became too afraid to go to Felucia, and chose to RP on Trammel. BAH! Did this divide the potential population of Naeloth, as happened to the server itself? Tramell! *spits*
Fun fact: The reason we became outcasts, rather than your standard Lolth worshipers was for an excuse to not bother learning the damn language! I only wanted the pvp! Though I did have to learn Xas, Nau and of course ELGG!! : )
I'm planning on trying out Darkfall when it comes out, which may carry on the UO sandbox freedom. With luck, I will have enough influence in my rp city to practice the same philosophy of having many declared enemies and allies to ensure the survival of my guild city.
Thank you for your attention. - Tars d'Tarkas

Ahh, the good old days, reminds me of the black box story from Callum F. One of the best of all times. Was fantastic. So many people gathered for Callum's trial. Those were the days. Brings back very good memories.

those maps indubitably brings back wonderful memories. no new game has ever presented dynamics making something like that ever remotely possible. how I miss it "..the first lesson: that we must be

Tars d'Tarkas, Necro Operandi, two names i recognise there, though i think Tars left not long after i showed up.
I started out my roleplay in spiritwood under the name Martin, stood around at britain bank looking like a helpless noob (which i was) i decided to tag onto someone called Aaron Ravenheart, he took me to fellucca and introduced me to roleplay within ultima online, i spent some time in the Custodes Fati troubled times at that which then led to me leaving and saturn introduced me to naeloth.
Started life out in naeloth in ACD again under the name martin but took an interest in IDA/EN again saturn helped me create a drow character and introduced me to that style of roleplay which i enjoyed much more, i liked being an arrogant, stuck up, easily insulted, selfish elf and thats where i stayed till the end of my time in uo.
Still playing mmo's with Xirzin currently on the European Dunemaul-PvP Server of WoW where i play a lvl 80 orc hunter, and xirzin a lvl 80 undead warlock created a guild there named The Black Fury, but have now moved on from that and are currently trying to decide what to do with our time in the game.
Im considering trying darkfall myself, and struggling to pull xirzin towards that, but now Tars may just become my leverage
Though if naeloth had of stayed strong, and the roleplay had of continued, then i doubt me and Xirzin would be playing wow now, Naeloth's fall was a shame but time to move on eh.
