What makes You a GRI Emmy?

This has been bugging me for a while now...

What factors should we consider important and decisive when promoting a member to emmy?

Seniority? but some veterans dont seem to be emmys no matter what...

Knowledge? but some keep all the information to themselves...

Awareness?

Caring?

Sharing/Giving Nature?

Many of the GRI Emmys share one thing. They have no problem pulling my ears if they see GRI in trouble. Honesty, bluntness and trust... that is one thing most share...
(which made me go elven... so I could hide my "pointy" ears...)

So I am asking for your help on this one... what is a GRI Emmy? How do You become one?

Thank you.

Re: What makes You a GRI Emmy?

How about any combination of the above? Some of the newer emmys may not know a great deal about the intricacies of the game, but genuinely wish for a team-oriented experience.

You have a job (emmy) that has many facets. You have people, who are multi-faceted beings. Just like diamonds, they have some parts that sparkle and shine better than others. So, you have some emmys that are good at security, some good at administrative tasks, some who are experts in their character's skillsets, and some who know best how the game works. So, to make the whole picture, you plug in folks with strengths in these areas. Yes, some have more than one strength, which only serves to improve GRI.

Sheesh Pitr, been hanging around you too long. I'm starting to sound just like you........

How do you think I feel? I live with Callie. Pitr on the topic emmies are people who have to be jacks of all trades but masters of none. Emmies have to know where to find the answers to all the questions that the members are asking. THey may not know it but know where to find it. I dont know every aspect of uo however I do know where to point you to find the answer. And if I dont know I know who to ask. But you cant set a specific point where yo usay this person would make a good emmy. THe only way to tell that is if the person takes the job and does a good job.

Re: What makes You a GRI Emmy?

Inactive members (6 months out of UO) lose their emmy title.

Good or bad idea?

I think it is a good idea after verification that they are truly inactive from the game and not absent do to circumstances beyond their control (i.e. militarily deployed or something like that).

Re: What makes You a GRI Emmy?

I would think you have to take into consideration everything. Have they been active doing "emmy stuff", have they been active in guild events, or have they just been existing on the fringes. Ask them if they WANT to continue with emmy status and encourage their emmy training if so. If not, then remove at their request. You will see, in time, who wishes to step up and who wants to remain in the ranks.

Re: What makes You a GRI Emmy?

Well - what is it that an emmisary does? In our instance, we represent GRI. What is it we want to say about GRI by choosing the people we do to represent us? That we are crafters? That we are all about fighting monsters? That we are adventurers? As I see us, we are all the facets of this game encompassing all the skills while fighting, adventuring and crafting too. That our emmies step up to teach, assist in providing security, help spread the guild wealth around, and assist in any way we can be it in crafting, getting better armor or whatever else is needed are also important aspects of our emmies. It shows that we are a true guild.

I am not the fighter many of the members in the guild are. One of the purposes of my fansite is to show that one doesn't have to be a fighter to enjoy a rich game experience on UO. My characters have much to do, travel and explore a lot of UO. I enjoy that and hope to show others that aspect of UO as well. I also want to show that as poor a fighter as I am, there are also places I can go monster slaying alone or with a group and still have a great time.

Re: What makes You a GRI Emmy?

I smells necromancy in this thread!

Actually I dont know much about GRI the guild, and how they pick emmys. I've only just recently gotten a character into it.
