Re: Other People's Mail

Oh, won't dispose of neighbors stuff, that happens a lot.
But someone from 100 years ago? Good way to light the bon-fires.

Re: Other People's Mail

Another peeve along with the non-forwarding mail...what about people who don't notify when their phone number has changed. I have had my current phone number for almost 2 years now, and I still get phone calls for whomever had the number before me. This includes phone calls from doctors offices confirming appointments and with results of tests (ewwwww), calls from the school board (apparently she was a member or something)....it's rather annoying. Thank goodness for caller ID and my overly generic answering machine.

Re: Other People's Mail

I've never paid to have my mail forwarded to my new address, but I make sure that I send out the change of address card to everyone I know who sends me mail.

I don't like those current resident stuff too, they go straight to the trash bin.

As for the phone numbers, I always ask before they assign me a new number if it's been used before, if it has I'm not gonna use it. Cell phone companies are bad with re-using old numbers. I tried calling my really old phone number and a guy answered.

Re: Other People's Mail

I like junk mail...hehe...I don't mind the "occupent" stuff...gives me something to look at some days lol

Phones are bad for that. When we moved here we started getting these wierd phone calls. Different language and then lots of calls from Japan. We were going to change our number because the Japan calls would come at all kinds of strange hours....

but it became a game. As far as we can tell, the lady who had the # before us:

Her name is Grace. She owned some kind of buisness up here, haven't figured out what yet. Lots of family and buisness clients in Japan, as well as a lot of japanese speaking people in this area. She didn't give anyone her new number, including a place she took her car to get serviced. Who constantly left messages saying her car was ready.

Our guess is that either her buisness failed and she's avoiding all these people...see our game?? hehe We screen all our calls with caller ID, so it can make things fun.

I know what you mean!! We've been in our house for almost two years and still get calls for some people that had the number before us. Weird thing is...you can google phone numbers and it'll (sometimes) come up with the address...you put in our number and still get this guy...lives about 2 miles from here..very strange.

Re: Other People's Mail

Other people's mail is awesome!! Not only does it give you something to read for a minute or two, it can pay for your UO account like mine is being paid  kidding.... I hate it like most people and normally just throw it away, if at all possible I will make an attempt to contact (if a company) the organization (i.e. power company or gas company) and inform them they do not live here anymore, if from an individual I do the writing on the envelope, and add something to it, like *circles name, draws an arrow to...* does not live here... *draws an arrow to edge of envelope, turn it over* you idiot!

I'm in the same boat, had phone # for 2+ years now and not only do I get calls for an Alecia from her family (same person, probly mother, told atleast 5x or more that this isn't her #, but she still keeps calling), friends (girls and guys), ex-boyfriend (had a threatening message, then an apologetic one), current boyfriend (wtf, not telling your current b/f g/f your current #???), credit card companies (she owes money to 3, yes 3!!! different credit cards and is not paying, and they will not take MY number off their record because I'm not the cardholder I blame this alone for any hairloss I may have in the next few years) but she gets text messages sent also, which I HAVE TO PAY FOR NO MATTER WHAT, they get sent to the phone, and even if I delete them without reading them, they still come up as a text message received on my bill, granted .10 a message isn't bad, but during thanksgiving/christmas time I had an extra $4.20 tacked on my phone bill for messages not intended for me, THANKS ALECIA!!
