Re: Losing interest in UO, it's a shame.

As F'Nor said about the game ... it waxes and wanes ..

By you stating that it is a shame to be losing interest means, at least to me, that you really have a connection with the underlying thread of UO ~ the Community.

After playing for several years and meeting folks from all around the world I have to say that to this day I am not bored with the game (might get frustrated at the twerps along the way) and I try to do things that keep me wanting to return (as a crafter and a merchant there is lots to keep me busy)

All in all I can not say that I have ever reached a point of losing interest ... just frustrated at times with certain bugs that seem to be forgotten about and never fixed, and sometimes (rarely) meeting folks that are liars and hurtful but that just means for me to stay clear of them, just as the game of real life hands me. But I am not about to let bugs and twerps stop me from playing a game that I truly do enjoy playing.

Hope you do return Adam, would really like to meet up with you in game and If you come to Sonoma just hollar and we set ya up right

I tried, this was the response I got

Re: Losing interest in UO, it's a shame.

thats complete bullsh!t... I think this is what ive hated about UO most of all.. not the constant changes to the game or the bug fixes that are constantly being worked out.. its the damn in ability to deal with all the scammers, cheats and scumbags out there.... I know its a lot to take on, and i don't expect perfection.. im just so sick of good people getting ripped off and the account department doing nothing about it.

I've never figured out how to be gracefully humble without appearing weak.

Nor have I figured out how to be gracefully passionate without appearing arrogant.

In the end, I always seem to be arrogant and weak instead of humbly passionate.

Maybe if I moved to another shard I would have more fun. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Losing interest in UO, it's a shame.

I've almost always been a 'loner' in my playtimes. One of the reasons I am here posting instead of Stratics is that I posted in a few places discussing playstyle and how some of the changes affected players... and was put down LOUDLY and thoroughly no matter how I explained it, as being the kind of person that wasn't good for the game and I should just quit if I wasn't playing for the 'greater good'. I was told I must be a 'scripter' since I didn't want random monsters to spawn on miners as a 'bonus'... no matter that you were not in an area where monsters didn't usually spawn... That meant I was a scripter... I use F1 and F2... lol.. and my mage has some spells on the other keys... but scripting... don't make me laugh. I am just barely past infancy in computer use! Finally, the person said I was just too selfish to want what was good for the game... so I pardoned myself... commented that it was obvious that s/he was definitely a very altruistic and generous person... and that I would be going now. Haven't been back. Haven't missed the grief either.

Re: Losing interest in UO, it's a shame.

I must say I have rekindled my interst in UO by role playing. Some of My friends say I am a killer pretending to be a role player, but I know that they are wrong. As a role player, its not the game or its mechanics that hold my interest but the story that we create.

Re: Losing interest in UO, it's a shame.

I have played UO off and on for years. Sometimes I have gotten totally sick of the game, the bugs, the people, everything. I just shut down my accounts and walk away. So far my accounts have always been there for me again if I want to go back. I am on break again now, but give it a few months and I will be back at it I am sure.

Then again maybe something else will totally capute my interest. Oh, look..... shiney!
