Thumbs down Dupers win again,

Quote:
If you desire, the monk robes may also be purchased for a few gold pieces from an NPC vendor in the Abbey in Yew. Wear them in Humility, brothers and sisters.
So in other words, instead of deleting the duped items and eliminating them, the option was chosen to make things even worse by stripping all value from the hooded shroud wearable and adding them as a stocked NPC item.

Out. Standing.

The dupers won. I'm sorry, but they did. And it needn't have happened either. EA..Mythic..whoever it is now could have done the right thing, the fair thing, the honest thing to the playerbase and deleted the duped items. Hey, if you bought a bogus Tal'Keesh shroud, that's your problem. You spent money on an item created through means of exploitation and I don't want to hear any "Well most players didn't know..." Garbage. People knew and didn't care.

So to take this a bit further...why doesn't Eathic add all Gauntlet artifacts, peerless drops, and other heavily duped items over the past year to NPCs as well. See, within the span of a few short months..some items were deleted & accounts banned for illegal duping..while others (shrouds) were not.

There's a lesson here to players: Don't buy expansions to get in-game rewards. They'll end up as 500gp items at some future date.

Re: Dupers win again,

I don't see how the dupers won anything. The monks robe is not the same robe that was duped. And the monks robe is easily available for anyone to purchase so all the duped robes are now worth 134 gold pieces.

Turning them into an easily purchased, cheap, item was a beautiful move. Why delete them outright? This was much funnier.

Re: Dupers win again,

The Dupers still retain their profits from the previous dupes. EA's action is very late and a few gold pieces short.

Re: Dupers win again,

But didn't they ban a boat load of dupers recently?

It's the dupers customers that have the robes now.

Re: Dupers win again,

No matter what the dupers made their gold so might as well not punish everyone who bought the robes. Punishment enough to have people who bought the robes now have a robe you can get for almost nothing. Maybe that will deter people from buying duped items if they know it can become something virtually worthless.

Re: Dupers win again,

They have banned a few unlucky souls, but some of the diehards are still out there. This particular individual still braggs about being able to outsmart our Devs. Him and his guild members have been banned numerous times, but they are still around. Until EA starts banning credit card and personal history information, they will always be around. They do not hide and blantantly post on other forums.

Re: Dupers win again,

But to be fair, what do you expect to be done? Have the dupers be brought to court and have to pay back any RL money they've made?

True, entirely too late and amounts to a hill of beans but it's done and maybe they'll avoid situations like this in the future.

The dupers won simply in not being taken to task for what they did, and having taken the value of hooded shrouds with them. They won in that hooded shrouds are now no longer a rarity in any way.

Hell, I'd have more respect for Eathic's actions had they simply _deleted_ all hooded shrouds in-game. Period. The brat children dupers who created the fakes obviously don't deserve to have them, and all the people irresponsible enough to buy the fakes don't either. Instead, the uniqueness and rarity of any hooded shroud is now ruined for the entire playerbase.

Again, thumbs down.

Re: Dupers win again,

I personallly think they shouldve been made dyable and/or craftable.

You can get the elven robes hooded on elves, but humans are still stuck with either having a Shadow Shroud from AoS (it was the pre-order gift then, right?) or buying one. And in todays market, they are ridiculously expensive.

The Shadow Shroud I had, I had bought for 750k if memory serves. Circa late summer 03. Id love to have another, but at the prices today, its just outright insane...

My last human char is relegated to dying their leather gloves and gorget a matching shade of brown, where my elves can have hooded robes (albeit, not nearly as nice looking) in any color and shade I can think of, matching their armor from there....

Re: Dupers win again,

Terrance I am confused. My hooded shroud is still a hooded shroud. If all the duped ones are monk robes. Then mine is still rare and worth keeping. Dupers would of reallywon if EA had deleted legitmate shrouds. You think everyone should know if something is duped. As I have stated before I don't keep up with it. I could of been burnt in a number of buys.
