3D does not mean first person...

I'm getting sick of folks ranting on about new clients for UO and all they have to say is that if it's 3D they'll quit. And they don't even know what they're talking about, assuming anything in 3D means first person shooter view or over-the-shoulder WoWish stuff.

What does it take to get through to people, 3D does not automatically mean first person! 3D is just the engine used to create the graphics, the camera angle can be set where ever the hell we want it to be, in UO's case, god perspective, isometric view.

Sticking with the ever-precious ancient 2D engine only makes it so adding any little thing takes ridiculous amounts of artwork, thus making it slower and less cost effective.

Just to be absolutely clear: 3D won't take away the all-important top-down view in UO. Period.

Yeah I've seen the graphics of the new client, it looks to me they are taking the best qaulities of 2D game play and giving true 3D graphic to the characters AND Senerey. Unlike the current "3D" that is just misplaced shadows and shading along with your body and monsters being bigger then the buildings and trees around you lol...

People will always have complaints but I mean if that is what they "really" want to do it "quit" then well... they can hehe but I am defintally going to play the new client! =D

If they bothered to look at the posted screenshots they would see that not only is still a top down view but it is also still a 2D landscape.

I'm more curious about the changes to the interface.

They said it is supposed to be easier.

I can't wait till we get more info... and I look forward to seeing more pictures. If the change in graphics means I need up update video cards, I'll most certainly upgrade, it may take time, but this game has hubby and I so addicted it's worth the cost.... Not to mention the money the game has saved us in entertainment costs... hehehe
