In pictures: Storms lash Europe

Darn

Fierce winds are pounding northern Europe - including Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Forecasters said the severe weather conditions might get worse.

In the British capital, tourists and Londoners alike struggled to make their way across the city.

While the British coast was pounded by high waves such as these at Brighton pier.

In the Netherlands, winds caused travel cancellations and school closures, as well as damage to property and vehicles.

The Dutch weather service said the country had not seen such storms for years.

But not everyone was taking the high winds seriously - two children made the most of it on the beach at Ijmuiden, on the North Sea coast.

Yeah, I'm in Holland right now and that storm was crrrrraaaaaazy. Trucks blown on to their sides on the side of the road and stuff.
