  | In pictures: Merapi's dawn parade Cool pictures.  Indonesia's Mount Merapi put on a fiery display as dawn broke on Wednesday, lighting up the early morning sky.  The volcano, which has been belching volcanic steam and lava for weeks, sent a fresh stream of molten magma down the hillside.  Dawn broke with a cloud of volcanic steam and ash rising from the cone of the volcano.  On the ground, villagers have continued to tend their farms under the shadow of the mountain despite warnings from Indonesian authorities.  Ground staff at a golf course under the shadow of the volcano have continued tending their lush green fairways.  Meanwhile, from the village of Deles a host of observers can keep a watchful eye on the developing drama. | Re: In pictures: Merapi's dawn parade Reminds me of the Lord of the Rings...and how that Mt. Doom was surrounded by forests.... The whole world is dangerous. If it looks nice, there is something dangerous in there..be it volcano, earthquake...or snake! Some we can control, snakes and aboriginees...others we can't ... earthquakes and volcanos...tornados. Think Hawaii. Beautiful. Formed by volcanic eruptions. Very, very, very cool. |
