[Event] Britain Winter Festival - A fun day indeed!

Britain Winter Festival - A fun day indeed!
From the
UOForums Contributors; by Zenith of UOF*C:

Hail and well met friends,
Scheduled on the calendar for Saturday, February 25, 2006 was fun at the Britain Winter Festival. The events began at midday and offered a Scavenger Hunt, an Art Contest, a Dragon Hunt, Net Tossing, an Archer's Competition and Treasure Hunts.

The opening ceremony took place inside the castle of Lord British. Greeters handed out bags with items to help follow the events and a finely made robe of white cloth stitched by 'Brit Winter Fest', the official festival tailor.

The first event was a Scavenger Hunt organized by members of
[PAS] and [KVP]. The scavengers had 20 minutes to find as many items from a list in order to complete the task. The list contained a variety of both easy and hard items to find throughout the land:
  • a bauble, a bead, a big fish, beeswax, a jar of honey, a pen and ink, an orange petal, an empty potion keg, a fireworks wand, a spellweaving scroll, five enhanced bandages, an empty paragon chest, a mini house deed, a metal shipwreck chest, a power scroll, a statue of Blackthorn, a red leaf, a vine, and a power crystal.
The first person to return with the most items from the list, within the allotted time, would win first place. Waltrum rushed into first, while hot on his heels was Jayde who came in second and with great effort, Wildflower rounded up in third place.

After the scavenger hunt, many gathered for the art contest led by members of
[KmR]. Each competitor received a bag of seven items with instructions to design them into art. Amazing works came from the simple items of: a sheaf of hay, a bola ball, aids, red cotton, fungi, rose of Trinsic, spider silk, and nightshade. In the end, Amidon placed first, Tre'vac Windsong second, and Bri came in third.

After the art contest, people began to gather outside the Britain Lighthouse for the Net Toss event planned by members of
[FCB],[TB] and [KmR]. There was anticipation in the air as the leaders explained the event and prepared the attendees for what seemed as imminent death for all.

Then it happened.... A bright blue moongate opened, and at once, the healers invited everyone to jump aboard the boats. Once the people settled into place, the slapping sounds of nets hitting water meant the event was underway.

The attacks were small at first. However, the more nets that hit the water it soon was apparent lives were going to be lost. The fighting was fierce, with deaths on both sides. In the end, the players fended off the monsters and the spirits of those present were ready for more celebration! Once the healers attended to the needs of the dead and the booty collected, everyone headed off to the Archers Butte for the next event.

The archery contest held by Lady Hell's Angel was action packed. The highest scores landed competitors in a shoot out for the first three places. In the end, a first place winner was declared - it was Vasquez! In second place, Falcon and Ciara came in third.

The last event for the day came when treasure hunters gathered at the Sosarian Steed Stables and received their group assignments, by organizer Zita of
[THB]. Then they took off with master T-Hunters and healers to dig up different levels of maps. The groups met back at West Britain Bank before heading to Dot Island for the final dig. Normally one wishes not to die in T-Hunts but as a twist to this hunt, the first to die would obtain special recognition by their name placed on the decoded Dot Island map. The leaders proudly announced that Tiltowait of "Tiltowait Island" was born for a day.

After all of the official events, the Britain Winter Festival ended with appreciation expressed to those that participated in and volunteered to run the individual events. It was definitely a memorable day in Britain!
