Lady Joylah prefaced Monday night's High Council meeting by discussing strip poker with Lord Galen and ended her evening's public appearance by blowing Lord Strider a kiss. In between, she expressed her penchant for "digging around and uncovering rotten fish" while proclaiming herself to be "counsel for the High Council, High Court and the guard." Under this bit of witless self- promotion, she has now assumed the role of defense attorney in the case of 'The Crown vs. PUU'...a case which pits undeniable coterie and favoritism against appropriate and legitimate legality.

Stepping before the assembly, Lord Strider, King's Counsel of Britannia's High Court, presented statement of warrant for the arrest on charge of treason for PUU, a man who, as also stated in the warrant, 'impersonate(s )a member of the High Guard by acting as a member of the High Guard in unofficial capacity,continuing to hold the rank of Brigadier General in the former Royal Guard which was converted to the High Guard by the 171st Assembly of the High Council' for which he is additionally charged, along with 'attempting to insight rebellion by undermining the High Court and the High Council through a warrant request made by him to Lord Strider, King's Counsel, High Court of Britannia, on July 25 2006 for the arrest of Maggie V. Stewart', as well as 'conduct unbecoming a member of the High Guard through a warrant request made by him to Lord Strider, King's Counsel, High Court of Britannia, on July 25 2006 for the arrest of Maggie V. Stewart.'

Immediately Merlynna protested, stating her opinion that "someone has been busy making crap up" and forthwith declared it to be the product of "a mud slinging campaign," given the fact that the warrant was issued by Inquisitor Meliadoul Tingel who happens to be running against PUU for the presently vacant High Council Seat of Chaos. Of course PUU was quick to agree despite Lord Strider's statement that there exists "evidence under lock and key." Unable, or unwilling, to accept this truth, Merlynna proceeded to cast a spell of invisibility upon the accused, thereby obstructing justice. She followed this with an air of abhorent arrogance, stating, "So arrest ME arse!" Always these High Councilors stand in the way of the law, hiding behind the clause in their charter that protects them. They claim to follow virtue while giving it an altered definition.

Lord Singlarad then called for a vote for investigation "into High Court charges of obstruction of justice and slanderous charges to influence the High Council's decision in regards to the Chaos Seat." His request was unanimously approved by the High Council members present. Inquisitor Tingel's bench warrant was issued as the result of PUU's actual and documented evidence based treasonous and illegal activity. It was his own poor judgment that led him to commit these acts at this particular moment in time. Now, the High Council is taking advantage of PUU's ranged acumen to safeguard their interests by accusing the Inquisitor of attempting to influence them in her pursuit of the Seat of Chaos. In so doing they little more than combine their self-righteousness with what has long been their obvious mockery of justice.

Prior to his being taken to Trinsic Jail, PUU insisted upon "a word with Wysteria". After his arrival there, he asked to speak with Skara Brae's High Council representative and Order of the Silver Serpent's leader, Lady Wysteria, yet again. Following their conversation, Yew's High Council Representative, Lady Joylah, stepped in as his attorney. Former Grand Marshal of the Royal Guard, Lord Iron Horse, then requested that PUU be released into his "personal custody" on Serpent's Isle-a location of isolation from mainland Britannia.

Meanwhile it was noted that the prisoner was still in possession of his arms and armour. When questioned as to why, Kindra, Scout of The Order of the Silver Serpents, pleaded ignorance, stating "He came with us co-operatively" and "I was not made aware of what the charges were."

Was it ignorance, however, to allow a fellow guardsman to retain contraband? Is it coincidence that a supporting member of the High Council has become PUU's defender? What was the nature of the twice occurring verbal exchange between PUU and Lady Wysteria? Why did Lady Joylah take her leave upon a kiss and a chuckle, stating that "Indeed!" it had been a good evening?

Regardless of what truths lie behind appearances, one truth stands without question: Inquisitor Meliadoul Tingel performed her duty as designated by the High Court's charter. Whether the High Council continues to refuse to acknowledge this in support of their own personal choice for the next Councilor of Chaos remains to be seen.
