Roleplaying is one of the few things that keep me playing Ultima Online. Since 1997, the game has mustered a large fan base for the franchise and a large number of Role Players that truly enjoy living out the lives of their characters. There have been many ways people have gone about role playing, whether its player made quests, Seer Quests, player run towns, Politics, guild confrontations and Territorial campaigns.

What are you trying to do?

I am looking for warrior styled role players, whom would be interested in aiding me in the resurrection of my old Guild. A guild that provided me with a uniqueness of role playing that few guilds have ever been able to match. This guild is named the Ancient Order of Virtue, otherwise known as the Virturi.

Who are you?

For those who recognise the name, you will probably know that our approach role playing was quite different to the norm. We didn’t have to rely on War Status with other guilds, or having to be spoon fed events. The fun thing about the Virturi is that you are your own leader (to some extent) and because of that you have the free will to go anywhere, do anything you wish with a solid background and story and plenty of lore to work from. The idea being that no member will have to sit around and do nothing and be bored as the Order provides so much to do, even if you are alone. We work to better ourselves and the Guild and we need loyal members that are willing to build on that foundation.

What are your goals?

The Virturi have a few specific goals. They can be laid out as follows

- The primary goal of the Virturi is to study and uphold their interpretation of the Virtues (otherwise known as ‘ancient virtue’).
- There secondary goal is to dig up and learn of their own past. The Virturi claim thousands of years of history, but it is all in shards and poorly kept records that have been lost through time. They visit ancient grounds, investigate lost ruins and study books with ancient knowledge.
- They create, collect and add information to the ‘Virturi Archives’ a Library of seemingly endless knowledge.
- They gather resources and riches to fuel their Order. Constantly working to revitalize stock of raw minerals and materials. As a group effort, this can be very lucrative and fun to do.
- They raid the deepest and darkest of dungeons, gathering riches and artefacts from all corners of the world.
- They fight the hordes of darkness that would destroy the world. Their arch enemies are dark cultists and those that would torture and kill to achieve their own greedy goals.

What types of characters are the Virturi?

The Virturi are spiritual people, who have dedicated their life to the study and preservation of the ancient virtues. They write books of knowledge and pass that knowledge on to others. They preach of Virtue to the people and generally live full and active lives with meaning. The characters are a very ‘take as you will’ style of play. You only need a little direction and the rest you can achieve on your own. Its fun, simple but challenging at the same time.

Do you do PvP?

We do a bit of Role Played PvP with our Enemy Guilds (whom are also Role Players). However, the Virturi was not origionaly designed with PvP in mind, so PvP is absolutely secondary. We feel that there are too many RP guilds around at the moment that rely on PvP and military, that they forget how to have fun without it. The Virturi do not rely on PvP and as such have many other things they do in its place. But, if you enjoy some RP PvP, yes we do provide that as well.

What do you offer me?

I offer you a chance to role play a character style that is fun, rewarding and active. You get to be a part of a guild that has almost ten years of in game story behind it, almost 10,000 years worth of Lore and a large amount of freedom for your playstyle. If you want a fun role playing experience, then I can offer you that chance.

What do you need from me?

Members of the Order are required to role play at all times. They must wear a uniform that has been the symbol of our Order for many years, they must take the time to learn and understand the Lore and Virtues surrounding our story because without that knowledge you will not make a successful Knight. We require our members to be courteous to other people, understanding of other guilds views and willing to role play in an environment that is not dependant on PvP.
