Tonight I attended the Vesper elections to find out whether Vesper would have a new Baron or if it would retain Kain Twothumb yet again.
So off I went to the Polling station to observe the proceedings. On arrival a large queue had formed waiting for their chance to vote.


During the course of proceedings, it became known that Ikus Middlethorn had been bribing voters in order to gain votes. Not a very honourable thing to do and surely not a good sign of things to come should he get the position.
After sometime, the proceedings ended, and the vote counters retired to one of the voting rooms to count the votes. Meanwhile everyone gathered in Swaggers Inn to await the announcement.



Soon those running the election came into the Tavern to make the announcement.




It was announced that
Rand Darkmoore had 1.6% of the vote
Ikus Middlethorn had 6.5%
Elliot Heath 13%
Kain Twothumb 18%
Geronimo McShort 21.3%

And the winner with 39.6% of the vote was Olk Samsca.

I then caught each of the candidates to ask them about the election.

Ikus had this to say:
How does it feel not to be the new Baron?
oh it was as expected
You did not expect to win?
most certainly not, but it was a fine opportunity
Do you feel it went to the right person?
the people of Vesper chose the candidate I am none to oppose their saying

Kain Twothumb:
How does it feel to have lost your position after so long?
I want people to know that even though I lost, I want them to know I still support Vesper and the new baron fully.
Do you think Vesper is in good hands with Olk?
The new Baron Samsca Olk is an extremly capable person, Vesper will reach new heights with him in command, and I wish him all the best.
Do you have any regrets about your time as Baron?
I have no regrets about my time as Baron, I had a good run and I did pretty much all I could do in the short time

How do you feel about coming second in the election?

Do you think the people of Vesper chose the right person?
nuuh! Tis' all a ... disgrace!

You seemed to leave after the announcement was made, I take it you weren’t pleased with the result?
The election went more or less as I expected, although the gnome coming second was quite a surprise! I think it was mostly the disguised foreign voters who pulled that one off though! I'd guess they wanted to ensure that the next leader of Vesper was someone they could easily defeat.
Your policies seemed good, but do you think that is what let you down?
I would have expected to have done better were it not for my recent break with my former order. That inevitably cast a shadow upon my reputation. However, my break with both my order and Vesper was regarding the leadership policies of the former baron, Kain Twothumb. In a sense, even though I lost the election, this is still a victory for me. I hope that the elf Samsca will be strong enough to run the town as well as I would have done.

Olk Samsca:
Well Olk, how does it feel to be the Baron of Vesper?
Well I find it reasonably good. Can't complain. Better to be Baron than not I should imagine.
What are your plans for Vesper now that you control all of it?
As for my plans.. well largely as I outlined to the general public. A fairer settlement in regards to our poorest, the establishment of sound government for the proper employment of our territories and the defence of our rights as a free nation against our insolent and archaic foes.

I was then lucky enough to witness the handing over of the Scepter that is reserved only for the baron. The Militia lined up in full uniform while Hanse Davion handed the scepter over
