well it has been many years since i have played uo.. and well im gonna give it one more go im waiting for these never ending patchs to download but whats more i cant really remember much of the game... i remeber the basics but imafraid that im gonna need a bit of guidence... any one suggest what sort of character to create.. i do like mages but has anything changed since 2003?

The easiest start is a paladin, it is straight forward and rather quick to raise. Though, having an experience with UO, most chars will be good.

Yes i saw some one from HLP and they where very polite. ive decided to take the route of the ninja? good idea? im thinking with the ninja it would be a good allrounder for hunting and for pvp in the futer?

A ninja is a good idea, yes.

Stealth will get you through dungeons easily, and you don't need all that much starting equipment. I would raise hiding to 100 and stealth to at least 75.

For PvP (and hunting) I would consider poisoning too.

By poisoning would you need alchemy as well to make the potions obviously?

No. You can either buy your poison or make a second character to make it for you.
