In May 2005, two prominent (or maybe just bored) members of the Catskills Stratics boards, Timberwolf and John McDermmott had an idea. "Let's go do an Ish Champ Spawn tonite," said one. "Sounds like a good idea!" said the other. Timberwolf volunteered to scout the spawns and post a meeting gate and time. Quite a few people showed up that very first nite and the death and madness ensued. Some had their very first encounter with a paragon dragon and, well, it was not pretty.

At the end of the evening, Timberwolf decided to post the very first "Hunt Nite Hangover Thread". The responses were enthusiastic and someone suggested that we should do this again. And thus, the Friday Nite Catskills Hunt was born.

Here we are one year later and, what started as a one time suggestion for something fun, is still going strong. Friendships have been made, laughs had, and, yes, many, many, many death robes collected. We've taken the Hunt Nite all over the land with some very good results and some not so good outcomes. But through it all, people come each week and have FUN.

We've seen new things that we might not have been able to experience without this wonderful group that has truly learned the meaning and tactics of fighting TOGETHER. Each person watches for the other. Each person that comes on Friday knows that there will be someone there to pull them out of danger and help them if they get in over their head.

Together, we've built more than a hunting group. We've built a community. So many people have helped in so many ways, from helping plan, scouting locations, gathering keys for peerless, donating skulls for Doom, donating prizes for the fun little contests we run from time to time, and just showing up each week and putting their hearts into it.

Each week as we gather at Yew Gate to start our adventures, we are greeted by old friends and new faces. The "veteran" hunters quickly take our new friends under their wing and help show them the ropes. Each time we journey to a new location, even if every single person dies, the group comes out with the attitude of having learned something and eager to try again. There is no such word as defeat with this group.

It's hard to believe an entire year has passed since the first hunt. Wow, what a group! Thank you Anne for your never ending enthusiasm that has kept the Friday night hunts running smoothly. You have done a wonderful job!

I am very happy that this hunt night goes on, even though I have only been to one of them, I am happy to see that there is still some community left in UO.

Wow that looks like a complete blast! Maybe I'll have to join ya'll sometime in the future!
