Parry for mages and the new publish

Should I bother to have parry on my mage since he runs such low dex? Can someone explain the changes made in the publish?

Just pick up a SC weapon and weapon skill.

Some scary numbers:

Parry Skill at 110 Bushido at 0

Dex 10 =
Chance of blocking with a shield: 13%
Chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon: 5%
Chance of blocking with a 2-handed weapon: 5%

Dex 20 =
Chance of blocking with a shield: 16%
Chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon: 7%
Chance of blocking with a 2-handed weapon: 7%

Dex 40 =
Chance of blocking with a shield: 21%
Chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon: 11%
Chance of blocking with a 2-handed weapon: 11%

Dex 60 =
Chance of blocking with a shield: 27%
Chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon: 15%
Chance of blocking with a 2-handed weapon: 15%

Dex 80 =
Chance of blocking with a shield: 32%
Chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon: 18%
Chance of blocking with a 2-handed weapon: 18%

Looks like it went from parry-mages to running-mages.

The whole point of nerfing parry on mages was cause not only could they avoid spells with evade, but they could avoid hits from a dexxer too. So basically you have a literal tank that can avoid and take hits left and right, and can also heal himself instantaneously with a greater heal spell, while your typical dexxer has to wait 4-6 seconds with an aid. That is unbalanced. So they balanced it out by taking evade and parry away and leaving it to the templates that should have it.

Disarm is the new mages parry. I mean, if you think about it. If I was a dexxer and I ran up to hit a mage that had parry and gm wrestle, what are the odds that I would hit him? Not only could he parry my blows, but he could disarm me as well? Yeah, a little unfair there.

It firgures i missed the boat on something again. I guees back to the drawing board again. But even I can tell it is for the best since mages were never touched. Any Template suggestions? I have on my mage MAagey, E/I, med, Parry, and Fence w/ 100 pts left over if all went to 120. My cap is 705 right now. What should i replace parry with.
