Hi,

I've been on a month and i've been taming left right and centre, safe to say i'm sick of the sight of Hind and Boar! I've got my taming up to 44 and i've got plans as to what i want to tame at each level, but how do i get my vet skill up? I've got a horse bonded to me, but he's dead, i tried bandaging him, but i don't have the skill to rez him and i don't know anyone on UO, so how do i up my skill? I'm guessing if i go firing arrows at animals and try to vet them they will just eat me???

I've got animal lore at about 80, don't know how it just happenned!

So i just need help getting vet up, help!!!

Healing pets is the only way to get your Vet up. What shard do you play on? If you can find another tamer. He may let you practice your vet skill on his pets.

Yes, knowing which shard will help tremendously. If you are on Pac let me know I can help you out :cheesy: considering my 1st character ever made was tame/vet/lore!

Nah, the horse would be dead in seconds.
If you can, find someone to tame two polar bears for you. Then take them out on a boat (but this will still work on land) and tell them to guard you. Then have them attack one another. Keep slapping on bandages whenever they take damage.

Animal lore raises naturally. It will raise while you tame or vet. Or, you can just actively use the skill, but it is so easy to gain I don't recommend it.

If you can't find anyone to get you some polar bears, get two animals that you can of the same type. Just do like I said and gain your vet.

A suggestion on taming. Since skill gains are based on successful attempts. You might want to go here: http://uo.stratics.com/content/skills/anim.php . Put in your taming and lore. I set it to show "Success 0 Pretames" and sort by taming. As long as you have less then 100% chance to tame you can get a gain from that creature. I look for as high as a success chance as I can get (less then 100) and tame until I get to 100 on that creature. Then pick the next one on the list.

44, eh? Im guessing you were having alot of failures? Probably why you havent gained nearly as much taming as you have Lore.

Follow what vepl said in the above post and youll see Tamig start to go a bit quicker up to about 75 or so. It seems to have a big slowdown there.

What Im doing at the moment is jus having Taming jewled up to 110 (from about 90) and working the GGS gains. My Lore is locked at 105 (I have the +5 Taming/Lore talisman) and my vet is just about to GM.

This way you can actually play the character and have fun instead of just walk the woods tame, release, tame, release, to the end of days...
