At higher skill levels I found it to help a lot if I just cast EVs and then also attack the target with my mage weapon once the monster is tied up by the vortexes. Doing this at Miasma is nice as you get loot and the occasional minor arti in the process, and end up casting LOTS of EVs.

This being in the 110-120 skill range that is.

This is how I gained my magery in a few days.. Go to Spirituality into the cave where the dread horn is.. When you get there find you a saytr and cast on him.. Be quick though cuz he will provo things on to you. But you want him to hit you with discord.. When he does quickly run out of the sparkling gate and then come back in.. If he provo'd something on to you it will still be qued but you don't want the discord to come off of you.. So take care of the small thing or ask someone to help ya with it..

Make sure to keep the satyr that discorded you on your screen.. It drops your skills way down and then add your mage weapon.. I found that if I target myself I can stand right next to the saytr and gain magery fast.. In three days I gm'd magery, peace, *To some players agravation at the swoops* Sorry guys.. Music, Necro, and 88 eval.. Its a great way to gain and if you pay attention to where your satyr is at all times you never loose the discord..

Where can I find a spell channeling mage weapon so I can get my magery to 120? Here is my story, not trying to bore anyone , but I started playing UO in 97 then quit in 02. Just started playing again last week, trying to keep up with all the new stuff that is happening.

Basically what it does is let you gain using lower lvl spells (meaning less mana used per spell = more spells cast = better gains).

If you are at 95 magery, normally you'd have to cast 8th lvl spells to gain, equip a wand with - 27 Magery and your at 68, you can cast 6th or 7th lvl spells to gain.

The chances of gaining are the same as 95, it's just you can cast more spells faster (less mana, less casting time) by using a wand.
