![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: lumberjacking vs chivalry Chivalry is far more useful. Most axes are two-handed, preventing you from using a shield, and slow, besides. The bonus from Lumberjacking is, I think, 10% DI, which isn't enough to compensate for the disadvantages. Of course, GM lumberjacking allows you to chop the new woods, which can be sold for gp easily. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: lumberjacking vs chivalry It's either 10 or 20%, but not 30 anymore. The 30% was the dmg bonus you got like 6 years ago when they first instituted the dmg increase. Back then, GM lumberjacking was a must for a dexxer, cause you did TONS of dmg, but now, not so much. The thing about chiv, is that you have more things you can do with it. Also, enemy of one doesn't work in pvp, so that's one minus, while the lumberjackin bonus does work in pvp. All in all though, I don't know anyone who runs with lumberjackin on their dexxer anymore except a couple role players here and there. You're better off with chivalry, cause you can make up the dmg bonus with items. |

![]() ![]() | Re: lumberjacking vs chivalry I loved my LJ fighter back in the day. I made one on TC other week for fun, and he got his butt handed to him. Of course I did the old skills and levels. An updated one may fair a tad better. He was... 100 swords 100 tactics 100 anatomy 100 healing 100 parrying 100 resists 100 lumberjack 100 str 100 dex 25 int Now that is old school, lol |

![]() | Samhain, the Atlantic character was exactly as the one mentioned above in the past. Currently modified to suit todays game, this specific character generally plays solo PVM. Since the account was not paid for a few years all added up, the skill bonuses have not all been applied, he does have a +25 stat scroll applied (currently using 250/255 per the recent update). *Truthfully: Tactics is currently 112.x and magic resistance is 98.x, but for clarification purposes I have rounded to the appropriate number. Swords 110 Tactics 110 Anatomy 110 Parry 100 Healing 100 Magic Resistance 100 Chivalry 80 Int 25 Str 105 Dex 120 With a dexterity potion (if even needed to cap DEX) and Breath of the Dead I rarely ever go under half life under most circumstances, and bandage at the highest possible speed (from what information I am aware of). With a few pieces of armor or jewelry such as Essense of battle or whatever, it is very very easy to cap Dexterity. Intelligence is "boosted" to 31 by random equipment means for consistant spellcasting, and the character is human. I soulstoned the Lumberjack to my mule, whom happily harvests wood whenever he wants to. I do use axe weapons on my warrior sometimes, in the form of a Slayer or Super Slayer, but for me to do that the weapon is usually very good. Otherwise I rarely see reason to even change to an axe weapon on that particular "has-been lumberjack" character anymore. UPDATE: Looking at my characters equipment, I already have 100% DI equipped anyway. I am unaware if a lumberjacking bonus is available over 100%. Perhaps my decisions were based on the not-visable effects of a lumberjack bonus based on my choice of eqipment. ![]() ![]() More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly. Last edited by Samhain; 8th November 2006 at 11:29 AM.
