Help with character.

I have a MAGE who is a GM blacksmith, I am thinking about soulstoning the skill so I can develope other aspects of my character.

What do I need to make my spells more potent? I have a 100 in magery but the spells are weak? What do I need to train up? I will give specific stats tonight...

Re: Help with character.

Evaluating Intelligence is the prime booster for Magery.
Then followed by inscription if you want to put that there.
Rumor has it, that Anatomy can help, but usually with the healing spells, can't be sure of that under today's skillsets.

Defensive wise, you may wish wrestling and/or parry.

Training Eval, well, first buy up the skill as high as you can. It will climb naturally (passively) as you cast spells. If looking to push, you can walk around the towns and manually active the Eval Intel skill and hit up NPC. Guards used to work well. Crowded areas like Spew-na I mean Luna can help with PC types.

Re: Help with character.

Definatly work Eval up....you will see a huge difference in your spells.

I've been a mage for a long time, and I've never heard of Anatomy. Hmm...I don't think that would have any effect honestly. Like F'nor said, inscription can give you a bonus if you work it up to 100. If it is GM you get a 10% bonus to these spells:

Magic Arrow
Harm
Fireball
Lightning
Energy Bolt
Explosion
Chain Lightning
Flamestrike
Meteor Swarm

Completely depends on how you work your template...my mage is my main fighter and I'll give you her template, just for an idea.

Magery 110
Evaluating Intelligence 110
Meditation 110
Focus 110
Inscription 100
Alchemy 100
Wrestling 80

Now I have 720 skill points because of my account age. I do find Magery and Eval a lot different even at 110. And the meditation and focus together drives my mana up at wild speeds. But many mages don't use focus and you can run just find on meditation.

Re: Help with character.

don't forget the Nox road, 60 - 80 in poisoning can help the pure mage and fight/mage hybrid.

In terms of lowering special move cost and increasing poison level of
spells, infectious strike and serpent arrow.

The one thing I noticed with Focus, is that every 20 points in Focus works as a Mana Regen stat from your armor. So, if you wanted to put those points elsewhere, you just need a MR increase of 5 to equal 100 skill points. Your extra 10 points there Thradia, are basically a waste. There is not extra increase until 120.

Just something I've noticed over the years.

Re: Help with character.

The Eval is very important for spell damage. (think of it like tactics for a warrior, actually more important than Tactics) If you end up with some extra skill points you may also think about putting 50-60 points into Chivalry. The Remove Curse, Close Wounds is very handy.

As for the Focus my main Mage has both Med and Focus and can't run out of mana ever! Focus does affect mana in increments of 20 skill points but it affects stamina in increments of 10, so I go ahead and put as much as I can into it.

May main Mage:

100 Alchemy
100 Insciption
100 Eval 9ok it's really 96.9 but moving up)
110 Meditation
110 Magery
100 Anatomy
50 Chivalry - moving up
58 Focus moving down - I forgot I was trading my GM Focus for Chivalry

False. Anat has NEVER played a part in magery healing or damage. The only way that Anat interacts with any other magery skills is if you add it to eval for defense chance without a weapon. Similar to wrestle but with no specials.

Buy the skill to 30 or,
Start a newbie char with 50 in the skill you want and soul stone it
at that point get onto a boat on a server line and 8x8 to GM asap.

60 will only help you bump up your poison field spells. If you get 80 poisoning you MUSt have 120 magery in order to cast the highest poison with the spell ( In Nox ). You must also have 120 weapon skill to bump it up a level EVERY time you hit with infectious strike.

If your magery / weap is lower than 120, then you need more nox...as long as they add up to 200 you are good.

You only get the mana reduction bonus when you his 100 poisoning. Not any lower.

I am assuming that you are talking about a 100% pvm template. That template would get ripped to shreds in a pvp environment.
