Yah, but dont you get some kind of decent slayer weapon after doing the haven pali quest? I have heard of the double slayers coming from there. I am sure they are not the best in the world, but its probably not a bad start, getting a slayer or 2 to get you on your way..

Since I have a paladin pre made, he wants to play a different style to complement our PvM. Hes thinking about necro pre-build, is this a hard character to use?

Necro is not hard to use. In ways it is the reverse of a paladin.

Yes, during the paladin noob quest you are given an Undead Slayer sword with which to kill skeletons in the Haven graveyard. They aren't bad swords, and you can in fact get a double slayer occasionally; I did, once, myself. The slayers are one of three types of swords: broadswords, cutlasses, or scimitars.


The Necromancer noob quest is fun to do, also. I'd recommend doing it just for fun, to have some experience with spellcasting. The noob necromancer outfit is cool, too, it's one of the few times you see a male character in a skirt.:grin:

Make a provoke/mage/t-hunter. Lotsa work, but mucho fun in the end.

Doesnt the necro build make you a necro/swdsman tho? That isnt really that great a build in my opinion. I would rather see it as a mage/necro type build

Yes, the Necromancer pre-made template appears to have been designed as a dark version of the Paladin, with a spell (Curse Weapon) that corresponds to the Paladin's Consecrate Weapon spell. Noob necromancers made with the starting template get a Bone Harvester sword and a set of dark leather armor (looks good, too bad it has crap resists). In practical terms, the Necro spells complement Magery so well that most Necromancers become Mage/Necros instead of Necromancer warriors.
