Are these 2 skills broken? i cannot get taste ID to go above 75, and i cant even get a gain in detect hidden, and i just bought it up to 30 from a NPC, i would like to eventually work remove trap but i need to get detect hidden raised, any ideas?

In order to gain in detect you have to attempt to detect someone hidden, were you just clicking around or did you have a friend hidden and were clicking where he was?
(you can also use trapped boxes and revel the traps but you would need looots of boxes)

ive tried having a person hidden, then i tried doing it next to a trapped box, then i tried on a trapped box, ive tried hiding and trying to detect me, and it says its a passive skill so it should gain while raising lockpicking but it never moved, so none of those have worked

Try looking at uopowergamers.com they have mostly out dated stuff but its pretty useful. (sorry if i'm not suposta post others site i didn't know if we could or not, so if were not just let em know and ill edit it out)

Detect Hidden - Go to Vesper Bank, detect all the crates that spawn until higher level (70-80ish) (can also do dungeon chests) then train on locked down paragon chests until GM.

If factions are active on your shard, and they set out alot of faction traps, you can detect them by joining factions. They seem to give gains more frequently.
