I am new to the game and workng on delevolping an Archer. These are the skills I am thinking about:

Archer
Anatomy
Tactics
Healing
Resist

Now with the balance of these skill points I am thinking of Chivalry, Magery, Evalu Intell, Bushido, Hiding.

I am leaning toward Chivalry and something else. This character is solely PvM.

Any suggestions????

I have been looking at the Bushido skill and it seems most of the abilities involve parry. As an archer I don't carry a shield so would these abilities do me any good?? I did note that Bushido does allow one to parry with a weapon. Is this possible with a bow??

What bushido abilities would be a benefit to an archer??

Lightning Strike (HCI + Crits), Momentum Strike (when surrounded), and Confidence (for quick heals) work well on archers. Not to forget about Perfection (using Honor, the virtue, on critters) works too.

Haven't tried Honorable Execution so much, but I'm sure it'd have the same effect as any melee.

Counter Attack and Evasion are for melee.

I've got those plus chiv and focus (no bushido). I definitely love this template for PvM.

80 chivalry

OK, so I was reading that focus is useless... (???!!!!)

Is this true? I went and read the definition of focus ("Battle Focus") on Stratics, and it looks like its main objective is to passively raise mana and stamina in battle. That seems worthwhile if you use things like Chivalry or special moves that eat up mana. (I don't have a whole lot of mana as it is, since I've got so much shoved in dex - I've only got 40 or so int).

It seems to me that I could use something like focus.

Or - here's a question - if I use mana leech weapons, could that make up for the lack of focus (assuming I dropped focus)?

My archer template is thus;

100 Archery
100 Anatomy
100 Tactics
90 Hiding
80 Stealth
90 Healing
80 Focus
65ish Chivalry, still raising.

I use this template to roleplay as a ranger but is pretty good in PvP and PvM. My chars have 710 points available so Chiv will get to 70. If I am in 'proper' ranger mode I soul stone tracking on instead of the Chiv.

The hiding and stealthing suit my armour. All barbed leather, only the gorget is studded.

Kitiara a mana leech weapon will help. Just don't think it can be counted on to keep your mana up. If you drop focus, I would recommend finding some mana regen armour to get your mana back up.

I would sujest getting spellweaving for many of the useful spells. Even if you leave it locked at 0 skill, there are spells that will come in handy. Maybe think of getting Necro where jewlery and whatnot can get you to either Lich form or Vamp form. Lastly, I would consider maybe thinking about some bushido for more damage and healing options, but just be aware of when you have been 'blood oathed' as it is easy to one hit kill yourself with slayer weapons.
Slightly on topic, if you plan on camping in doom for extended periods of time, maybe put some time into running compassion to get to Knight of Compassion. This way, you can res a group of people with your noble sacrifice and they might stay alive so that they can return the favour to you when you become monocrome.
