Guild question

I used to be on LS shard, then I switched over to legends. I was a part of AE but decided to make a change. I joined DL and after a month, discoved myself as the GM. My old GM went back to AE.

I have no clue how to find new members, Legends is rather small and Its been years since I tried to start a new guild. So if you have any suggestions for me, please let me know.

Hunt, and I don't mean just Champ Spawns in Fel. My guild the FSB has gotten a lot more active since it started going to different places like champ spawns in Ish...places I never would normally go, and now I will show up whenever I can. Those nice little titles like "Hunter of Evil" are sweet. Forget lady titles! In fact, I joined them for that reason. New people want to play to have fun, not just stock the shop for GMs. If you want players, make it fun for them, and in the long run they will help fill your stores. I have been playing just a little over a year. I was nothing at first, but because I first linked up with FSB and Fort Briarwood, my skills raised fast. In return, I will go anywhere and fight anything anytime with them. In fact, I am the scout and lure girl for Fellowship of Skara Brae these days, and love what I can give back for what they gave me. I also go and hang out when I can in Haven to train new players and dump loot regularly these days. Not a bad way to recruit. It takes some time, but the end result is a grateful young player.

Just a thought.

I am not sure if they are still doing it, but there used to be a Help in Haven night on Wednesdays around 8pm. It was originally started and maintained once a month by Fort Briarwood, but anyone could come and help. Last I heard KSD (Kingdom of Dragon Spine) picked it up. Whatever craftsman you had could come and make stuff for new players, do repairs, give out start up gold, provide tamed animals. I remember a lot of players got their start there that ended up joining guilds that showed up to support that. My sister and I always took care of decorating town beforehand with flowers, communication cyrstals, and the little green poison thingys that really shine. Wish I had a picture, but its on my sister's stuff.

Here is another idea that helps....a lot of new players spend time just wandering around travelling. I remember I used to. I used to love just travelling and looking at peoples houses, and posting on their boards. So, on my board in front of our house I have a welcome, but a book as well locked down on the steps but set so anybody can read. I have written down (copy control C and ..paste....control V while in game) our guild website on the first page, and each next page another link to sites like UOstratics, here of course, UO Radio.com.....SosariaLive.com....anything to help the new player with the game. Cause they can't join unless they are attracted to stay. All the stuff I found that will help them stay in game, so they can then stay and join us, or anyone, I don't care. It was my sisters idea, but I wrote the books since I am the scribe. I guess that makes her illiterate.

I also have a small bank box mounted on a torch so it looks like a mailbox, with a little green knife raised up to look like the up and down lever. It is locked and set to open by anyone, that way the traveller going by can use the runebooks inside. Of course, I have a book set to every house belonging to our guild....hehe......I have one on Fort Briarwood community alone, and that takes up two volumes. You can see a copy of that at Runes To Go in Luna...and with my name on it! I am so proud. Of all places!.....*calms self*.....anyway. I also have a book marked New Player Runebook, with places I really remember I had to go to alot, but had to spend lots of time finding where....stables, inn (marked Inn Safe Log Out). A lot of players don't know starting up that you have to be in an inn to safely log out. Anyway, you wouldn't believe, just having those books there, how many people come by to use them. I have met alot of new players that way. Then, older players come by too, and leave messages on my board letting me know that they enjoyed the more elaborate runebooks. My point is, these sound simple, but they are really good ways to keep people in touch and moving around your favorite vendors and community while you yourself are not around.

God. I can't believe I wrote all that. *eyes bulge out*

Re: Guild question

I have a Keep in Dagger Island, amogst the many items I have, I set a small area for all ru8nes books. Its open for all to see, not that I have seen may folks come there. I do have a large collection of rune books, also open to the public.

My guild (all 3 of US) have been roaming Haven and the lands, we also made books to give out, explaining who we are and so forth. We are in the process of making a new GH, off the main road from Malas.

I did read of the Help new player events, and I will seek the next one out as well. I will examine your book at at R2G and as I create the new GH, I think I will follow the examples you have given here.

It was so easy on the LS shard years ago to create a guild and find folks, I can see Legends is more of a challange as well. We just complete our web site as well, set up Ventrilo and a UOAM server, so hopefully things will imporove.

Thank you for the suggestions

I don't have alot of time to play, cause of school and all, but, if you see me running around, stop me to chat. I will be more than glad to hunt or whatever with you guys if I am not busy. I could also mark a rune to your place to lead new players I meet, but once you get a website set up, I will put in the main book on my steps below my bulletin board to lead players to your site for info and stuff. Just let me know. If you want to know where my place is to post a message or something in game, you can find me like this....go to Skara....cross the ferry to the mainland. From there, follow the coast south until you pass like 6 or 7 houses. Right on the coast it is called Salem's Lot. Leave a message for me or, if you happen to run into my sister there, you can talk to her. FSB is also headquartered around that area, and they don't mind helping other guilds either.

Re: Guild question

Thank you, the site is up and running. Its www.defyinglegends.com

I will be on later today and I will stop buy your place witha rune and seek out FSB. I recall speaking to them almost a year ago, when I first returened to legends. The GH is also almost complete stocked with items, I still have a few potion kegs yet to make and adding new runes to the set.

Its not very far from the Bandits as you head west from malas. I had thought of using my keep as the GH, but then I gave it more thought, how would I get young players to Dagger Island with my paladin?

I have a section on the site for alliance members, these are folks whom DL has contact with. You are welcome to sign in to the site and Ill change your access.

Thank you again and please let FSB know I am thankful to them as well. I look forward to metting you in game as well. I have total my hoardes of you (Jackie; Tanka and Killzone) and they look forward to metting you. Espically Tanka, he is a good player, logs in at 8pm EST and he lives in japan.

We have also gotten our Ventrilo set and running plus the UOAM server as well.
