Check on sandles

Hello all,

I recently opened my second quite old account again and found this pair of sandles in the bank box of one of the characters.
My questions on these would be:

1. Are they legal? I really have no clue where they are from....
2. Are they worth something? (if 1. applies with "yes")
3. Where are these from?

Please note that they are
- old (double blessed)
- definately not BOD-Rewards (no such yellow)
- not AOS also (no writing, account was closed pre-aos).

Its the same yellow that items have when highlighted with the mousecursor.

Any info is highly appreciated.

Rhea

Re: Check on sandles

Before AoS, on occassion you can spot a NPC wearing colors that are not the usual brown->blue->dark blue. So yes, it was possible to get those. Thats how some of the birght blood colores were gotten at the time. Being double blessed just meant it was gotten at a particular time period. To put an amount on it, I'd say close to 10 mil on that one.

Good point below by Kaj, that was the other way of obtaining them.

However, the rules below were the old GMs before EA Mythic GMs took over. Many things apply but many do not. I agree that you should just page a GM and tell them the story. However be advised even if the GM you called said it was ok and properly logged, the next GM that gets called might not read the previous logs and deletes it. So the risk is yours.

No, alas they are illegal.

Answer
In the long history of Ultima Online, there have been times when certain items were able to enter the game world due to the result of a bug or exploit. In the past we have been hesitant to post a list of such items, for some unscrupulous players might see such a list and decide to attempt to recreate such illegal items. However, in recognition of player concerns with regard to the growing inability to discern the differences between these illegal exploit/bug items and legitimate & acceptable rare items, we now feel that there are certain exploit-based items that can be publicly listed and discussed in an open forum.

The items listed below were created or obtained through the use of an exploit or bug, and are not able to be obtained or acquired through any legitimate means. They are prohibited within Ultima Online, and players who are found to have, use, trade, or sell them may have action taken against their account.

These items are listed because they continue to exist in the world even though they are not re-creatable, but please do not consider these listed items the only ones that are unacceptable within UO. Just because an item may not be on this list does not necessarily mean it is allowed. We reserve the right to change and update this list at any time.
  • Portable forges, looms, spinning wheels, or other obviously not portable add-ons
  • Water or grass tiles
  • Silver steeds (except for Siege Perilous, and Mugen)
  • Tame ancient wyrms
  • Neon sandals (not BOD reward or AoS gift sandals)
(taken from the EA site).

2. Are they worth something? (if 1. applies with "yes")
They are worth 5-10m, despite them being illegal
3. Where are these from?
They were obtained by killing a vendor, using a bug, around 7 years ago.

Please note that they are
- old (double blessed)
- definately not BOD-Rewards (no such yellow)
- not AOS also (no writing, account was closed pre-aos).

Its the same yellow that items have when highlighted with the mousecursor.

I had a pair myself a long time ago, but they got deleted by a GM (this was when the bug was still at large and no one really knew if they were legal).

If you want I could post a screenshot of the GM explaining why they are illegal. Just let me know .

Small update, seeing as I was curious myself:

Greetings to you!
As you were informed by a fellow GM; the item you are inquiring about is not supported by Game Masters at this time. Meaning: We can not comment on the item, it's status or the likes. Also, as pointed out, these items are subject to change, and are not officially deemed legal by the development team.
As such, the homepage is correct and should you posess these items you must remove them. The development team may at anytime remove or alter the item or any items in game without prior warning to the community if deemed necessary. As an example, please note how the monk robes came into the game.
Please also know that ownership of the item (Neon Sandles you reported) is at your own risk. That can indeed mean that at some point, action may be taken or that the item could be changed. Thank you for your support in reporting these items and cooperation.

I stand corrected!

GM Glathin
So basically it comes down to that you can wear them and own them without any real risk. I pointed the GM to the EA webpage, but it's just an 'unsupported item', which I guess is similar to sigil dyed items. Seeing as the sandals are quite rare after the initial witch hunt, in which I lost my pair, there's few left and they don't cause any harm to the game, considering AoS sandals.

Re: Check on sandles

Oh wow thanks for this - I just came home and wasn`t in game all day to check myself. I think I might sleep a night over them to decide what to do with them. Since I pretty much like my accounts and being them in good standing the decision will be the choice of "deep inside some chest" or "trashbin".

Thanks a lot for the effort.
